“The AI tool uses cameras and audio recordings to report on whether the teacher looked at or walked through each section of the classroom, how often they used group work, and many other techniques. Even the words the teacher and students use are tracked.”
One thing that needs to get repeated until it sinks in is that “AI” does not simply function as a tool that people in power are using; it’s even more powerful as a permission structure for the destructive & extractive things they wanted to do in the first place.
Johnson may or may not understand the tech. In either case, this is a clear example of how AI will be used in this administration: either by duping politicians about what AI can do, or giving them a cover story to pretend AI can do the things they want to get done.
Looking for source or at least text of that wisdom someone wrote about calling just ”AI” all the varied things that use the approach is like referring to all cars, trucks, bicycles, trains, etc as just “vehicles”. I know @kin wrote about comparisons of GenAI and cars but this was different. #AI
I am back here experimenting with this platform. I seem to have found quite a few of you from 'that other site' so let's see how it goes. Are you using it regularly? Is it good, bad, indifferent? 🙏 @cogdog.bsky.social you here?
