Glad this is getting another writeup even though it was glaringly obvious nine months ago. The cops demand to be lauded as brave community protectors while protecting their own skins

Given the considerable lags in the academic publishing process, I'm surprised and gratified by how rapidly motonormativity is becoming a thing in the literature

I like the physical nature of film with the photons causing a reaction producing an physical image that I can hold. It's not a good medium for taking good photos, with film prices it can be hard to get myself to take enough photos for a good one.

Yeah, on a trip I took last summer I brought my dslr and a "modern" slr from 2004. I shot a roll and a half a day over the course of the week, but took more than a 1000 digital photos.

A shit load of the land is growing corn to make ethanol. Replacing that field with solar panels produces more useful energy in a year with basically no inputs. Corn requires fertilizer, pesticides, etc.

One of the most reassuring things I learned from Artemis II is that the public does give a shit about crewed space flight, they just don't care about SpaceX. When NASA does something it feels like a collective accomplishment of humanity. SpaceX? Not so much.

Yeah, I was raised Episcopalian. While I don't really believe anymore, there's parts of it that I like. I recently learned that my childhood church is letting their local DSA chapter meet in the big parish hall for free. I get annoyed that many leftists seem to think all Christians are evangelicals.

One of the most lingering and damaging impacts of The Population Bomb and its ilk of NIMBY environmentalism is a fear of urban density and urban living generally.

1. Absurd.
2. Also absurd: The sport of darts is segregated by gender.
3. Additionally absurd: Darts is considered a "sport."

Inclusionary zoning is bad. Instead of relying on kludgy market based mechanisms that don’t work, the government should directly subsidize housing for poor people.

Inclusionary zoning is bad policy and we should stop doing it.

After going to the Easter service with my family this weekend, I decided to open up my hymnal (received as a present at my confirmation) to try play some Easter songs. Ended up just flipping through it and coming across this hymn. Written by a WWII veteran, it's unfortunately still relevant today.

*huh*

I wasn't expecting the "Civil Rights Movement leaders" mentioned as part of an answer for the words that sum up what it was like seeing the moon there (since it was an answer by Christina Koch that said humility)
