This is one of those issues that Vancouverites without kids in school don't really see or care much about, but it's a MASSIVE challenge to families, and it impacts people's ability to work, and ultimately to even live here, which really and truly affects everyone in the city.

It's Time for Out of School Care Building a Vancouver for Everyone

The out of school care crisis is going from bad to worse with parents waiting up to five years for a spot. It doesn’t have to be this way! I’m looking forward to presenting a motion supporting more OOSC across the city. www.onecityvancouver.ca/more_out_of_...

Ken Sim won’t be defeated by posts, polls, or prayers. He’ll be defeated in a vote.

That takes conviction in a single progressive candidate who can unify this city. (1/3)

Tonight, Vancouver council will have a public hearing for a school 19 years in the making

There's some community opposition to the project — but there's also the bigger question of why it takes the provincial and municipal governments 19 years to approve a single school

My heart goes out to Tumbler Ridge, all of the staff and families and community members facing this unspeakable tragedy. May we all wrap those in Tumbler Ridge with our love in their time of grief.

Let’s help the province with their goal for universal childcare by 2028! Join me in electing Trustees and Councillors who take action to help families across the city, support universal childcare spaces, $10/day, and fair wages! 💪🏾

We need more childcare spaces in all schools across the city, so I’m puzzled that Victoria Jung (Van Liberal Council hopeful) voted against every opportunity we have had to advance childcare.👇🏾

This week, VSB Chair Victoria Jung moved a motion to LIMIT universal childcare for families accessing childcare on school grounds! Total non sense that I do not support. I believe in universality, b/c a public good that is good for some kids & families should be accessible to all kids & families👇🏾

Build more. We need to be acting on what our city should be 10, 20, 30 years from now.

And we need to be innovative. Look at @reddyforchange.bsky.social's efforts to provide after school care in existing space, using existing staff (who often are on part-time contracts and want more hours).

Thank you for fighting for Carleton and for your strong advocacy to keep school lands in the public domain.

Schools are the heart of the community and the soul of the neighbourhood.

I commit to continuing my support of the Carleton and wider community. I hope you’ll join me in voting these trustees out come October 2026. We all deserve better.

For now, we mourn the loss. We heard one Green trustee say that “land has no value unless it is sold”. I could not disagree more. The land that this school sits on and the school itself is valuable beyond dollars, to the community and future generations of kids & families.👇🏾

I tried, along with my ally Suzie Mah, to stave off this decision & hold this land in trust for generations, to support the #saveCarleton community, but other ABC&Green trustees voted to create the conditions for disposing of the school. They would rather pass the buck than protect a public asset.👇🏾

- to students and their families who came to tell us that this school matters, to the neighbourhood that has relied on this space to gather and play, and to the whole district that will undoubtedly lose this large parcel of public land.👇🏾

I am disappointed that Carleton Elementary School has been permanently closed, and now sits in wait for potential sale. This is a huge loss…👇🏾

Take Action: Restrict Right Turn on Red at High-Risk Intersections On Wednesday, Vancouver Council will vote on a motion brought by Lucy Maloney to restrict right turn on red at the highest risk intersections for people who walk, bike and roll.

We worked with @lucymaloney.bsky.social on a motion coming to council on December 10 to ban right turns on red at high-risk intersections. This is a low-cost, common-sense measure that will save lives. We need your help to tell council this matters!
