opinion piece reads in part: "Honestly, I think the new bike lanes make traveling by bike inherently more dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians in this city. Cyclists don’t want preferential treatment. We don’t want "separate but equal” lanes. We want safe sharing of the road with a cyclist to be normalized in this city. We want cars to follow the law, wait until it is safe to pass and then give us three feet when passing. Cyclists, in turn, need to obey the rules of the road and stop at stoplights and stop signs and be aware of the traffic around them.I can cite two recent bike lane “improvements” in the city and tell you precisely why they should be reconfigured or removed all together."
