UPDATE - he has a (minor) infection in his rear paw by the innermost toenail. The Vet thinks he stepped on something that scratched it and then he started licking it and presto there you go!
He has to wear his cone and take antibiotics for a week and it should heal right up. Glad that’s all it is.
Me too. On the plus side all the vet techs gush over him here - he gets A LOT of attention.
Someone has been obsessively licking his foot so off to the doctor we go.

Your bond with your dog is so much different than with any human - it’s as close to unconditional love as we can get in my opinion.
