War crime after war crime after war crime. Israel's impunity must end! Canada and other nations must apply sanctions and arrest those for whom the ICC has issued warrants.
Standing by, doing nothing, is what happened in 1939. International humanitarian law matters!

Good morning! Another day, another development that makes the US more frightening, dangerous, and authoritarian.
Unless you have a very good reason, do not travel to the US anymore.

Apple is not without its problems as a feudal tech behemoth, but they are far above their peers in regards to security and privacy.
In every sector Canadian emissions are going down with the exception of the fossil fuel industry. Their emissions are expanding as fast as others contract. It has to stop. We have lost 1.5C and are less than a decade from losing 2C.

Great coverage by @zoeyunker.bsky.social for @thetyee.ca on the shortcomings of Ottawa's 10¢ gas tax holiday as a solution to the current oil price shock: thetyee.ca/News/2026/04.... My take: “The big problem not only hasn’t been solved; it hasn’t even been properly identified.” #cdnecon #canlab
Few countries have the renewable energy potential of #Canada yet most of our governments seem stuck in a petro state mindset, looking backwards not ahead
also nobody panic

Last guest, best guest! Looking forward to hearing this live convo with @rachelgilmore.bsky.social and @avilewis.ca
VERY BIG NEWS out of France a week ago:
"French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced on Friday, April 10, a ban on installing gas heating systems "by year's end" in new buildings, including multi-unit housing, to curb France's dependence on fossil fuels."

Apple is closing its first unionized store in the country.
Reminder that Apple spent $700B+ on stock buybacks over the past decade.
CEO Tim Cook raked in over $74M in compensation in 2025 — 650 times the median Apple employee's pay.
The greed of union-busters knows no end.
Yes, THAT David Lewis.
“The government and big business are both holding hands — in your pocket.”
- David Lewis in the 1970s
from the position of an LPC candidate or volunteer who in 2025 campaigned against public sector service and job cuts, cuts to CBC and Canadian culture, participating in Trump’s golden dome or the f-35 program… there’s not much centrist about the current governments right wing agenda.
Today, the Liberals rejected our NDP motion to ban surveillance pricing - a dystopian practice that will drive up costs for Canadians if we allow it to take root.
The NDP is the only party fighting to protect you from getting ripped off at the checkout.
From the floor of the LPC convention, @breachmedia.ca has some interesting conversations with delegates, staffers and MPs about the government’s continuing rightward-lurch. 🍿 🇨🇦

Disney's new CEO, whose pay package is worth nearly $45M, just announced 1,000 layoffs.
Reminder that Disney paid an effective federal income tax rate of ZERO in 2025 and aims to buy back $7B of its own stock in 2026.
This is what corporate greed looks like.
So glad to have your leadership in the House, @donvdavies.bsky.social.
Even while Lib/Con obstruction of the tech protections we need continues with a new fervour, we’ve got your back. 🇨🇦
“Quick! Let’s put a stop to this by defunding the CBC that discovered the crimes and the CFIA that’s responsible for it inspecting grocers!”
- Canada’s government
^ The mayor we all deserve
After *choosing* to cut $5 Billion from the long-promised-not-delivered Permanent Public Transit Fund, he now *chooses* to subsidize gasoline companies by more than $2 Billion.
He makes choices, Canada’s urban communities have not asked for this, but will bear the load of those choices.
I don’t see that coming from the right-wing parties either - but it _never_ will if we don’t get the idea into the conversation, at least.
And you’re right about alternatives, as Mayor @pjnewwest.bsky.social points out here

The sooner you realize that Mark Carney sees Canada less as a nation filled with humans and more a series of resources to sell off to the highest bidder the sooner it all makes sense
Mark Carney is giving $925 million in tax breaks to the AI industry
also, the dude in the umbrella behind me was on a call speaking spanish. just so happy to live in a global and open city
After a week away in 30°C+ heat, what a joy to be back in blossomy, rainy Vancouver.
Carney is cutting $80 million a year from the food inspection agency that should have stopped this… while cutting $192 million from our public broadcaster who investigated and exposed it!
easy to be furious at the executives leading these operations - but it’s illegal, profitable, and consequence-free! why wouldn’t this practice continue?
