If you haven't done so yet, you have just over two hours to register to vote in the 2026 local elections - don't give up your chance to exercise your right!

This is incredible. Such potential! it could pull a carriage - totally eliminating the need for horse and cart. One day we might even build one powerful enough to pull several carriages at once.

Let's just hope the profits for this are shared equally and don't make the rich even richer

Brussels pushes remote working to ease energy crisis European Commission also recommends heat pumps and public transport subsidies

An impressive set of recommendations to respond to the Hormuz crisis from the EU. I’m not clear whether they’ll be adopted by member states. If they are, I think the EU could be drastically less reliant on fossil fuels within a few years. Can the UK follow suit?

Is there not an argument that there is an overlap between the skills and resources needed to build offshore wind and those for offshore oil development

All the UK government funding for the warm homes local plan does not kick in till 2026-2027. We going to have a frustrating 6 months when the case is clear and demand high for solar, insulation and energy efficiency is clear but the industry is contracting and government support is missing.

need to reduce demand and increase supply. There is a limit to how much you can build in 6 months (an new offshore wind farm probably out) but can install a ton of solar (there a lot of cheep Pv panels lying around Europe) and can do a ton of electrification.

Unfortunately,

What we are now facing is a supply crunch. For heating (oil is another matter) we have about 6 months before it bites hard. We can subsidies though various methods to protect the most vulnerable (and also pull resources from less economically powerful countries. But also,

Thrilled that my paper (w/@sarahobolt.bsky.social,@catherinedevries.bsky.social,@simonecremaschi.bsky.social) was accepted at the American Political Science Review!

We find that declining public services fuel support for the populist right — and show why the right benefits more than other parties 🧵

China has been *nakedly* preparing for the next fossil fuels crisis for some time.

It will of course not be untouched, but maybe it will change the narrative around China being an infinitely fossil fuel hungry demon from the likes of Badenoch et al.

If you can please support this incredible organisation. Oxford Mutual Aid has been doing incredible work in Oxford addressing food poverty and reducing food waste. Volunteering for them has been a real eye opener for me.

This is a thoughtful, nuanced (!) piece, that I would urge Green Party members to read ahead of this weekend's #GPConf

It doesn't have simple answers or definitions, nor absolutist statements, so it is very different from a lot of the rhetoric that has been used when discussing the motion...

Why anti-Zionists should oppose the 'zionism is racism' motion at Green Party conference 'As an anti-Zionist I don’t want to give up on these people, I want them to come round to my point of view'

Wrote this from a personal perspective about why I, as an antizionist, think declaring Zionism is racism would be a mistake

"Hate like this is becoming normalised. This sentiment was
echoed on all sides of the House when ministers gave MPs an
update in Parliament today, which we were pleased to hear. We
welcome the Government's commitment to replacing the
ambulances and maintaining a visible policing presence in
Jewish communities.
No one should feel unsafe because of who they are, their faith,
or where they live. We must stand firmly against antisemitism
in all its forms, wherever it appears.
We need to make sure all communities feel safe and
protected. Now is the time for solidarity with our Jewish

They’re telling me a great empire will be destroyed if I attack Persia. Even the oracles who don’t like me very much, very nasty, they all said to me, “Sir, it’s one of the great empires, and it’ll be destroyed. And all because you attacked Persia.” That’s what they’re telling me.

Dont agree with every aspect of this article, but think it is one of the most accurate things written about the Green Party antisemitism and it does seem to have spoken to Jews in the party.

So often I see posts showing that the wind isn't blowing and the sun isn't shining, or that power prices are crazily high...

But today, with oil and gas markets in total meltdown, British electricity prices keep calm while renewables do the hard work.
