After a busy semester break, teaching resumed in Halle this week for the summer term. This term I am teaching one course on “topics in applied virtue ethics” and another on the Nicomachean Ethics.

Contact the editor. I once had a paper sitting at Phil Studies for half a year, then contacted them, and it turned out the reviewer they had originally invited had turned down the request and the paper was just sitting there forgotten all this time. Everything beyond two month justifies an email imo
A new paper by the NEW_LIVES group on criteria for gNBS program design and target disease selection, to which I made a small contribution as co-author, has appeared. I’m looking forward to a future pilot study! @ethicswinkler.bsky.social @aem-online.bsky.social

Manchmal gehen Facharzttermine schneller, wenn die Hausarztpraxis direkt anruft, weil es dann höhere Vermittlungspauschalen gibt… viel Glück!
This week marks the end of teaching here in Halle for the winter term. I taught two courses, on epistemic injustice and on phil of disability. In the upcoming summer term I will teach “topics in applied virtue ethics” and, for the first time, the Nicomachean Ethics. Really looking forward to it!
I am in Darmstadt today to attend a workshop on the anthropological basis of applied ethics. Tomorrow I will speak on “Virtue Ethics as Practical Anthropology”. Looking forward to three days of informative discussions!

A further paper in our special issue on the ethics of genomic newborn screening has just been published: M Jungkunz & C Schickhardt outline a child-focused normative framework for gNBS that draws on a review of established public health norms. doi.org/10.1007/s004... @ethicswinkler.bsky.social

Seems like the bots have discovered bluesky.
I'm pleased two papers I first-authored with the NEW_LIVES group have been accepted for publication in Ethik in der Medizin: "Towards Genomic Newborn Screening, Part I: Mapping the Ethical Issues" and "Part II: Outlining a Normative Framework". They will open our special issue on the ethics of gNBS.
Pleased another paper in our special issue is out: L:E Kramheller & C Rehmann-Sutter consider how population-wide gNBS might impact hermeneutic processes & societal practices by which parents understand their children's corporeality and development: doi.org/10.1007/s004... @aem-online.bsky.social
Simply in terms of fame, it must be Minerva McGonagall.
Another important paper in our Ethik in der Medizin special issue on the ethics of genomic newborn screening has been published! Lainie Friedman Ross argues the case against universal genomic sequencing of healthy newborns: doi.org/10.1007/s004... @ethicswinkler.bsky.social @aem-online.bsky.social
