I really tried to like this site but it just doesn’t provide the info it needs to. People on here are more concerned with media personalities’ reputations than the actual content of news (I.e. the most consequential geopolitical events of this century)

BREAKING — 51 Iranian children are dead after a strike hits Minab girls elementary school in Iran.
This is what a rigged economy looks like.
We must break out of the frame that presents tenure as something recently lost that must be restored. Instead, let’s just look at academic labor as it is right now, for better or worse. —David Banks, “The Underclass Is in Session”

The Verge front page is a "best gas masks: on tear gas and what it means when the government uses it on civilians." by Sarah Jeong
This is by no means a criticism but... man. I used to go to The Verge for escapist tech reviews. Now everything is AI garbage or something to protect yourself from the gestapo.

do we know who is behind this site?
"co-working is once again one of the fastest-growing segments of the office market. Economic uncertainty and the rise of artificial intelligence are compelling more companies to embrace flexibility for their workspace." www.wsj.com/real-estate/...
can you imagine being the federal agent assigned to bluesky, just getting scolded by deep space nine experts while all your buddies get like challenge coins
It's worth noting that the killer this morning was not a freshly minted ICE officer but a veteran Border Patrol agent who has theoretically been through years of "training."
ICE is now responsible for 66% of the homicides in Minneapolis this year.
Correcting how I do the dishes is neoliberalism
every single successful general strike in US history has had union backing through the local AFL-CIO
this is the first time it’s been called for since the 1940s

Newspaper with the headline “House gets tough on sex offenders”
At my parents’ house and found a 20-year-old newspaper. How things have changed!
Drawing of a Republican Politician saying “I want everyone to die” and a Dem Politician saying “I don’t, but that’s cool. How can I help?”
This thinking also drains the color from the world.
When we were having our kitchen redone it was hard to convince our contractor that we wanted anything other than white cabinets because any color is bound to turn some theoretical future buyer off. I’ve heard the same about car colors.
BREAKING: Nearly 15,000 New York City nurses are now on strike at Mount Sinai, Montefiore, and New York Presbyterian.
It's the largest nurses' strike in NYC history.
Trump has repeatedly raised the prospect of lowering oil prices to $50 a barrel, his preferred level, two senior administration officials said.
But oil prices are already low, with the U.S. benchmark hovering around $56 a barrel Wednesday, and Trump has struggled to persuade U.S. oil-and-gas producers to crank out more crude and help him accomplish his political goals. Many companies see $50 a barrel as a threshold below which it becomes unprofitable to drill, and a sustained period of low oil prices could decimate the U.S. shale industry, which has been a key backer of the president.

How Elon Musk Is Remaking Grok in His Image Mr. Musk said he wanted xAI’s chatbot to be “politically neutral.” His actions say otherwise. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/02/technology/elon-musk-grok-conservative-chatbot.html?searchResultPosition=1
Feel like it shld be front page, 34-sized font headline news that the person who gave ~$250 million to Trump campaign and then was co-president for a few months, dismantling agencies and stealing Americans' data, built an AI tool that is being used for child porn.
This Sept. piece is instructive
What in the Gestapo is going on in Grand Rapids?
Watch this activist get arrested *mid-interview* for speaking out against U.S. action in Venezuela.
The New York Times has just confirmed that 40 civilians died in President Trump's invasion.
