If you're playing any PbtA game and you roll less than 10, you are allowed to eat the low rolling die and reroll.
Fr though, I maybe get 3-5 rolls total during the course of my The Veil (PbtA) sessions. Might be due more to GMing style though.
haven't run into much of this myself in a while, but jesus christ that sounds awful

It makes it really hard to talk about Souls games, especially Elden Ring. They all do this constantly! If you read literature and not just fiction, you'll see it all over the place there, too. It's OK to find it unsatisfying, but a lot of people seem to think it's somehow wrong.
I agree with the prescriptive vs. descriptive wrt players. It has been somewhat jarring with published material and some DM's homebrew material, too.
Morality Alignments. They're too reductive and contradictory when implemented in any long-form campaign that I have seen. Please stop slapping them around willy nilly, especially if they aren't related to any mechanics.

(fake) Tom Scott video thumbnail featuring 1973's The Wicker Man. "Can this ritual bring their apples back?" I will be blocking anyone who makes an "oh god the bees" reference, that is a different movie not worthy of discussion.
"The Scottish island of Summerisle, home of the best fruit in Britain. The first thing you notice? No churches. The farmers here practice a fascinating form of pre-Christian worship…and I just learned I'll be playing the lead role in their annual May Day festival. First stop: my costume fitting."
“YOU WILL NOT CHOKE THE DIVINE FROM ME LAM MY OWN GOD AND MARIYR”
something strange and horrible and somehow fitting that we should have a very real threat of madman civilizational destruction at the very moment when we also have humans on the dark side of the moon taking pictures that show how small, precious, and beautiful our world and existence is
"characters in tv shows are too self aware now! every emotional convo is like "i guess i yelled at you earlier because i never processed dad leaving" no!! no!!! flush someone's blood pressure medication because they called you lazy."

They used to be slow, tree-like, and born of wood. What old trees remain of the first forests are their ancestors. They made a pact with a dark god to turn their bark and leaf into flesh and bone. This was all in hopes to stop tyrannical dragons from burning them down so easily.
The author's brazen fetish, presented with such hedonistic flair and and open pride it makes you feel a little embarassed for needing to hide your own passions behind self-effacing jokes in order to preserve a sense of safe, pseudo-ironic detachment
I wrote about how the Hasan Piker drama serves as a proxy fight between centrists and the left, and how it exposes the real priorities of Democrats like Cory Booker.
You are safe now in my fool kingdom 🐰🤡
significant footing in the area, and a key to defeating the empire's gods.
If everyone in the region dies and the key falls into the empire's hands it is likely that the empire's gods will, in time, devour all life.
all hate each other more than their enemies. The players are tasked with acting as the emperor's hand and getting these forces to cooperate with the emperor's edict. If the rebels successfully hold off against the legions, they are dead by the end of the month. If they cede the territory, they lose+
Short term "victory" is kind of a losing situation for everyone. Through spellcraft, the emperor has determined that everyone in the region will die if the empire's legions do not hold a key position by the end of the month.
The three legions are fighting a ragtag band of rebels, but the legions+
