Claude Code is wild. All I did was to connect Claude to GitHub, upload the WhoGov dataset & give it the prompt:

"Can you come up with your own research question based on the data, do an analysis and write a paper (10 pages). Remember to add citations."

It came up with an entire paper + code.

I wanted to see how many friends the President of Peace has made during his first and second term, so I made a map of countries he has threatened both economically and militarily, banned citizens from, and bombed.

Some things are up for discussion, so a bit on methodology below.

Pressure grows on Germany over rigid support for Israel Pressure is building on Germany to join steps to sanction Israel over the Gaza war, sparking heated debate in a country that has long been at pains to atone for the Holocaust.

I talked to @afp.com about Germany being under increasing pressure for its Israel policy. German responsibility "could be seen as the responsibility towards international law, the international rules-based order, the promise that genocide must never happen again."

I am honored to have been awarded an ERC Starting Grant towards my project "Governing elites since the dawn of modern democracy" (GETGOV).

It allows me to continue to advance this research agenda; the goal is to build a database on governing elites from 1789 and up to today + much more.
