So sad to hear. I interviewed him once in (I believe) 1993 in Oxford. As a young g reporter I entered his cottage/office while he was looking for his highly poisonous stonefish in his sea aquarium with his bare hands! A wonderful man, eloquent, civilized, erudite, intelligent and a perfect host.
