if you really look at the timeline from Germany surrender to Japanese surrender it is very hard to argue that the atom bombs did not help American military and political goals immensely, in large part because they scared stalin

i really hate the argument that "it was the soviets entering the war that caused Japan to surrender"

the soviets were stringing the Japanese along with false hopes of a negotiated settlement because of Stalin's imperial goals, if anything the soviets made the bomb more neccessary to end the war
