I’m currently trying to compile some reference resources (not Pinterest or stock images) like PoseSearch—

Do any artists have useful sites that help with finding specific angled limbs, poses, etc? Aphrite has been added already.

He seems to be taking the stop and work on something else thing but that's only producing dozens of more incomplete works and that seems to be the bane of his existence atm...

It's a bit tricky...But maybe getting him to draw completely different things outside human anatomy could help..

I told him to have discipline and I can keep him accountable next time haha.., We're doing 1 on 1 lessons at the moment but hmmmm... I feel like he's putting a lot of pressure on himself to speed up the process of improving

I think he seems the most frustrated with colouring/rendering . . . But then again, he gets stuck in basically every single step and it seems to be driving him nuts!! I gave the advice to do croqois and he expressed he kept going over time . . .

I think that’s a good approach, honestly!! It took everything in me not to tell him to take a break and approach it later because I feel like his pressure to improve is like, hindering with progress ,,, I should’ve asked if he finds art “fun” and not “frustrating”

That’s probably the most appropriate angle!! He wants to know how to find more complicated references and all I can think is that one pose reference site that finds stock images of similar angles + 3D models…

I think he’s feeling pressured by time instead of avoiding burnout,,

He has only finished 2 pieces in 1 year with piling drafts 🥲 he seems to revisit older concepts but can never seem to do get them to finishing stages 🤔

I think it might be a thinking problem and not a technique issue… but it’s so hard figuring out how to give constructive advice that isn’t —

I agree!! The only thing that helped me out of perfectionism was doing VRAINS 2.0 because of the weekly updates. I had to learn to cut corners,,,
I advised him to draw under a timer, but it seems like he had no discipline to move to the next stages despite it going off 😭

That’s what it sounds like! He only has a few weeks in Japan, so I think it might be a pacing issue where he feels pressure to improve fast… for a person who has only studied art for a year, he’s doing really amazing though!!!

His ideas are also like, so specific that finding references are difficult so it’s such a dilemma 😂😭

Hmmm… so he keeps agonizing over details and makes 10+ revisions which results in many drafts,, and he also seems to conceptualize and thumbnail more complicated angles that become eye level in later stages and he’s unsure of how to combat that…

Does anybody have advice with actually finishing pieces?
