I do hope that when they’re rifling through stuff at Andy’s house that they make sure to put his teddy bears back in the right position. Happy Birthday you odious over-privileged man. I hope you get the justice you deserve.

Overjoyed at this. My favourite movie of 2025, without doubt.

As Emma says at the beginning of the podcast, this one is for people who’d like to listen to #TheArchers regularly but who’d welcome a little help with who’s who etc.

In fact, a friend of mine who hears occasional episodes has just asked for exactly this 😊

The Archers Podcast - 64. Previously on The Archers - BBC Sounds Emma Freud with a beginner's guide for new listeners - and treats for existing fans.

Know someone who would like to listen to #TheArchers, but is finding it a bit confusing?

Pass this New Listeners Begin Here guide onto them, and change their life forever 😊

I think because her writing is so accessible, and plot driven, people often miss that and cast her off as merely ‘cosy crime’. In her best works the characters are as so complex and morally ambiguous. Hope Johnson keeps going with Knives Out. It’s the closest we’ve got to her legacy I think.

I love them! He channels Christie so well, and purposely! I think people often cast her writing as cosy. But it was always full of wit, scorn and commentary. The last movie is beautiful.

Proper escapism for 13 minutes a day. From an efficiency point of view you get most bang for your buck with something that’s on for less time than any other longstanding drama. Plus the community around it is great. I’ve made good friends through this show! Plus… it’s actually real don’t you know?!

It’s actually pretty fun to be fair. Albeit I wish so many things I like didn’t all coincide. Other points of the year feel like a draught TV wise!

And the whole family will want to watch traitors too! Not going to leave the house! 😂

New Year’s Day looks to be QUITE the event for listeners of the Archers. This happens to coincide /clash with a huge day for UK-based Stranger Things fans.
I wonder if there are any other people in this situation, or if I am the sole occupant of the middle section of a Venn diagram. #TheArchers

Was only intending to watch two episodes of Stranger Things.
That didn’t go as planned. Here’s to all the girls who loved Rainbow Brite and Tiffany and wanted to go on adventures in the 80s. Goodness I love this show. #strangerthings

You are super stars. I didn’t want to do a massive binge, I want to make it last as long as possible. Looking forward to listening to you and Mallory talking all things ST!

The pheonix! bunny vs Monkey is great. Also Dog Man has some great characters.

I think you have more impact than you know! I still have my hard copy of film stories from six years ago where you published my essay/letter to film clinic. It gave me the confidence to be more vocal about my nerdy passions, and I now regularly present on a podcast too!

Don’t normally stop what I’m doing when I listen to a podcast. But I did for so much of this episode. Especially the last 10 minutes. Simon, you’re a star. Keep doing what you’re doing, the world needs people like you! Be kind to yourself. Wishing happier times ahead for you.

Ha! Brilliant. Recently rewatched that. Like Tom, I’ve been trying to educate my boy in all good films and we’ve done both of the Monty Python movies. Unlike Henry, he HAS seen Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure though!

Yep, same here and it came out my own mouth! 😂 Hope you enjoyed the episode though, other than that slip up! It was a good week to get to talk about!

I did mean Pheobe… got them mixed up. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if Mia didn’t return post university either…
