The devastation of global warming happened centuries before. Can the Earth be restored to it's previous balance? Should it be?

Kristi reviews "The Measurement Problem" by David Whitmarsh:
"I devoured the story in two days, and imagery from it still haunts me. Thanks to Whitmarsh for his ideas and thoughtful narrative."

If Labour followed its own logic, it would now step aside and let the Greens walk home in this crucial by-election. It is hard to imagine how Starmer and co could have made a bigger fist of this - and of everything.
My column.

Here's 3 reasons why we should abolish the monarchy and change the country for good. #NotMyKing AbolishTheMonarchy
Cover of the Ted Chiang collection entitled ‘Stories of your Life and Others’. Image depicts the ornate hands of an analog clock (hour, minutes, seconds) overlayed on a panorama of blue sky above milling clouds.
Embarked yesterday on this celebrated collection. The first tale, ‘Tower of Babylon’, is an absolute masterpiece, centred on the construction of a colossal tower in the ancient city designed to break through the ‘vault of heaven’.
An exceptional debut - no wonder it scooped a Nebula Award in 1990.
Make a Bond movie casual.

Nepo Baby son of former Labour MP Jack Dromey, Joe Dromey unsurprisingly on the side of privilege.
2 Reeves, 2 Eagles, 2 Milibands, 2 Vaz. McSweeney's wife parachuted a safe seat. Children of Kinnock, Benn, Hoyle, Hopkins all found seats.
Labour is a party of privilege & nepotism

A British Republic would change the country for good. #AbolishTheMonarchy #ChangeTheCountryForGood
I don't know whether the Green's would be able to keep their promises if elected, but I do know none of the others will, and I trust the Greens' intentions more than anyone else.
Power to the people. It's that simple. #AbolishTheMonarchy
It has to be the Musée d'Orsay. Fabulous exhibits in a fabulous building.
For years I've paid the subscription for the OS maps app that gives me the complete topographic maps of the UK on my phone. I've recently learned that the French equivalent - Cartes IGN - is as good and completely free. I'm wondering what other European countries have a similar service.

Reminds me of "Lost". A show that goes on and on with no clear direction or resolution until it's cancelled. I got halfway through season 2. Maybe when the whole thing is finished I'll pick it up again.
Watch this to the very end. Thank you, @zackpolanski.bsky.social. You're the only leader of a major UK party who sees me.
It's my belief that each prime minister serves only to make their predecessor look better in retrospect.
Except Liz Truss. No-one could make her look better - except...
Nigel Farage.
We're doomed.

When Chartwell came into our care, the Churchill family requested that there always be ‘a marmalade cat named Jock, with a white bib and four white socks, in comfortable residence at Chartwell’ - and to that, we hold true.
