Flyer for a “Summer Teacher Math Camp” themed around the “Notice and Wonder” approach. The top reads “NOTICE? WONDER?” with a bright, playful design featuring a sun and clouds. The title “Summer Teacher Math Camp” appears prominently with the tagline “Building curiosity, not just procedures!” The flyer highlights guest speaker Annie Fetter, labeled “the Notice Wonder Woman,” with a photo of her wearing glasses and a hat. She is identified as the author of McGraw Hill’s Reveal Math and creator of “Ever Wonder What They’d Notice?” Event details list July 14, 2026, from 9:00–3:00 at OCIC in Hominy, Oklahoma (207 E. Main Street). The event is free and open to all math teachers. A section titled “What You’ll Experience” includes bullet points: rich math tasks, strategies to support student thinking, collaboration with other educators, and ideas for immediate use. A QR code and link for registration are included, along with logos for Oklahoma State University Department of Mathematics and Osage County Interlocal Cooperative, plus contact information for Melynee Naegele and Cynthia Francisco.

Reminds me of my students picking the card stunt they wanted to create! Great for differentiation! #ElemMathChat
Thank you all for being here tonight! A HUGE thanks for a great chat tonight Kathy @themathcollective.bsky.social #ElemMathChat
A8 Number set choices allow all students in, gives them autonomy and ownership and build confidence. I wonde about also letting students choose their own number sets. #ElemMathChat

A7 by omitting the numbers it helps student just think about the problem itself. They don't jump in calculating Once they have a strategy they can even practice with their just right numbers berfore the actual numbers are inserted. This builds confidence and strategy first #ElemMathChat
Hi Tyrone! Glad you are here! #ElemMathChat
A6 Visuals for launching is a great tool in udl. When students can visualize it is another way they can connect and enter into the math. #ElemMathChat
Hi firend! Glad you are here! #ElemMathChat
I did not see the savory! Good catch! #ElemMathChat
A5 I notice a ton of sweets. I wonder if this is a bake sale. I wonder how much of each thing there is. I wonder how much they are selling the stuff for. I wonder what they are raising money for. I wonder how much they will have left over. I wonder if they will do a sale. Why so much? #ElemMathChat
A4 If during work time after the notice wonder conversations students are still struggling I would ask what do you know about these numbers, what strategies have we done before that might help, is there an easier problem you could make that would make this one easier? #ElemMathChat
A3 I don't know if I would modify problem, just modify the delivery. I would read the problem to students. Then ask all what do you notice and wonder. If needed I would present one sentence at a time and Notice/Wonder. Then I would have students work independentlyy & then coolaborate #ElemMathChat
Friendly numbers are always make calculations easier. Of course students have to understand relationships and more to be able to use them, but practice and conversations really help. Also my brain is stuck in middle school math mode. LOL #ElemMathChat
A3 If students have been taught to ways to number grab rather than notice and wonder and read and understand they mayy just do 437-68. They may also not understand or register all of the language in the problem. Reading for understanding #ElemMathChat
I have been playing with kids for so long that I think like them. I also think the way thedo things is way easier than the traditional way of doing things. I could very easily do the math in my head - the executive function skills were easier too! #ElemMathChat
A2 I think I would do 37x2=74 and then -68 so that = 6 and then add that 6 to 400x2 so 800+6= 806 #ElemMathChat
So much yes! #ElemMathChat
A1 I think that math is one of the things that people/students use to make sense of their world. Not just the calculations and problems, but relationships and connections. Math is visual, auditory and tactile in our environment. It is the BEAUTY we experience in art, music, plants....! #ElemMathChat
I am looking forward to a day of joyful math! #ElemMathChat
