I hope you'll vote YES—for Virginia, and for the entire country.

You have a chance to help level the playing field as Republicans seek an unfair advantage in Congress. Please take it. Get more info: IWillVote.com/VA

Learning culture = design culture? I"m reading Don Norman's Design for a Better World (recommended; more after I finish). One of the things mentioned is 'design culture'. Now, I've been a big fan of 'learning culture', and so was triggered. What's the relationship? Some thoughts. So, to start, I think of learning culture as a determinant of performance ecosystem success. I've regularly touted Garvin, Edmondson, & Gino's…

Line graph titled “Gun injuries are the leading cause of death for children and teens ages 1–17.” It shows deaths per 100,000 children and adolescents from 2000 to 2020 by cause. A dark line for gun-related deaths rises over time and becomes the highest by around 2020. A light line for motor vehicle deaths starts highest around 2000 and declines significantly over time. Other causes—such as poisoning, suffocation, heart disease, and fire—remain much lower and relatively stable. Source noted as a 2022 New England Journal of Medicine study.

Gun injuries are the leading cause of death for children and teens 1-17 years in the U.S. Many of these injuries could be prevented with safe gun storage.

✅ Store guns unloaded in a locked safe or box
✅ Make sure guns are stored safely anywhere your child spends time including friends' houses

I've been a fan of yours in the past, but NO. Steyer should use his money to buy up media opportunities to counter the aggregation of messaging into conservative hands. He's not the leader we need.

Ethics, science process, and disagreements Recently, one of our LDA members provided a link to this argument, as a follow-on to a book club discussion. The book we covered in this meeting was David McRaney's How Minds Change (a worthwhile read), and the article raises an issue that links science process, discussions, and society. Hence, it's extremely interesting. This argument covers science process in a particular instance of theorizing, so it's worth thinking about.

I think a fair strategy is that whatever the current US administration says to do, doing the opposite is probably correct.

Presentation Process What is my process for creating a presentation? I realize that it's at least two parts, that interact. First, there's a story needing telling. What is it? What is the goal, and what story will get us there? Then, there's the question of communicating the story. What are the important points to communicate? Together, it prompts some thinking on how to put it all together.

Going it alone? I've been an independent consultant for the past quarter century. Which would make you think I go it alone. And, occasionally, I do. I've written my books myself. I've gone into consulting engagements on my own. I typically do my presentations on my own. Yet, not really. And, it's not what I recommend. So, why do we think we should be going it alone?

Why aren’t things changing? Change is everywhere. We've heard again and again that the pace of change is increasing. Certainly we're seeing more chaos in our society. Yet, some things don't seem to change, L&D in particular. Why is that? Why aren't things changing? For one, I'm not alone in advocating for more. Jay Cross was promoting Informal Learning, and Marc Rosenberg was talking

Simple information about what the SAVE Act would actually do to American voters. Tens of millions would lose their right to vote unless they spend lots of $$$ and jump through bureaucratic hoops before November.
