A dark line for gun-related deaths rises over time and becomes the highest by around 2020. A light line for motor vehicle deaths starts highest around 2000 and declines significantly over time. Gun injuries are the leading cause of death for children and teens 1-17 years in the U.S. Many of these injuries could be prevented with safe gun storage.
