On a personal note, this paper feels more relevant than ever for my bleeding country, Israel. No matter who you are, where you are, or what group you belong to, intellectual humility can foster understanding and connection—with your loved ones, colleagues, and neighbors.
Intellectual humility allows us to better understand others’ emotions and care for them without becoming overwhelmed. This holds true for both ingroup and outgroup members, as we found in the complex relational context of Israel—among Jewish and Arab Israelis.
