HUGE scandal if true. Laura Loomer got Marco Rubio to throw two Iranian women with green cards in ICE jail to be stripped of status and deported, claiming they were related to Qasem Soleimani.
Official documents provided to @dropsitenews.com appear to show they are NOT related; they're innocent.

You know who else famously used paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups?
The Justice Department.
I'm still trying to figure out what my cuisine is and if it's different from my kids' cuisine. I guess it could be Jewish food or maybe the crunchy granola type diet my mom favored when I was a kid. I definitely hated whole wheat pasta. How do you screw up pasta so badly?!
But if you believe one side is just wrong, even if it is squarely doctrinal or deeply precedented, but working forward from first principles from the text itself you think it just isn't faithful, it's not just that you shouldn't honor the precedent, but further: that to do so is to betray your oath.
But IN ORDER FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO ACCEPT THAT, they need to believe that the Court is indeed deciding cases honestly, according to law. That all that could have been done to give the losing side a fair hearing, given the basic conditions of pluralism, has in fact been done
Yeah. "I disagree with the Court's legal analysis" is one thing, but "the Court isn't using legal analysis to decide cases" is another. The latter is no longer in the realm of law and should not be treated as if it is.
A question for the lawyers and experts out there. The stunning thing to me about the Roberts memos was the emphasis on how allowing the rule to proceed would cost energy companies SO MUCH MONEY, he bemoans. We can't punish them like that, he implies. Is that... is that a metric to judge justice by?
I'll simply say again that for Shlaes to resurface in The Economist at this moment is an indicator of an ambient concern that Rooseveltian policies and politics are increasingly likely. The thing about the New Deal is, it was *immensely popular.* That's terrifying to certain people

Weird. Neither one worked for me. Not sure why.
Link to the ruling. I am not sure I’ve seen a judicial opinion with this many tweet screenshots in it before storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Breaking: HHS’s ban on gender-affirming care is struck down. Rarely have I read a ruling this sharply worded.
“This case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader’s wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.”

NEW: The 2016 Supreme Court memos and the mess that John Roberts has made of his court.
The New York Times scoop about the Clean Power Plan case SCOTUS memos highlights the conservative justices' brazen disregard for their own rules — both then and now.
Tonight, at Law Dork:
Gonna spend the next two years spamming every elected Dem about the concept of "damnatio memoriae." Chisel his name off every inscription. Build over the various Trump Towers like they're Nero's Golden House. Remove him from physical memory, not to forget but as a sign of disrespect to the man.
“The United States is being murdered, and it’s an inside job. Every department, every branch, every bureau and function of the federal government is being fatally corrupted or altogether dismantled or disabled.”
However low your opinion of the Roberts Court, it should be lower.
Put aside, for a moment, what a fucking mockery this makes of the law -- how plain it makes it that conservative jurisprudence works backward from its desired outcomes. Lots of other people have yelled about that. It's worth yelling about. Instead, though, let's look at the substance.
ANOTHER death in ICE detention.
I think the dementia has been going on since his 1st term. Remember "person, man, woman, camera, tv?" No neuropsych test would ever contain 3 items from the same category. They asked him to recall items from before & it seemed like he couldn't recall any so he made them up based on what he could see
And then the "patriot act" came along :(
Tesla paid $1 billion in taxes to China & $0 in federal income taxes to the US. At least 88 highly profitable corporations paid $0 federal income tax last year while bringing in $ billions. Disney, CVS, Palantir, Taco Bell & others are making massive profits, paying executives enormous ⬇️
the president of the united states is personally looting the treasury to the tune of literally billions of dollars and that he is not being immediately removed from office and tried for high crimes against this country is a devastating indictment of every part of our political system
I hope so. I have to do more research before deciding. Steyer has a (free) event coming up in SF. I'm hoping to ask him questions there and also hoping to go to a Becerra event. It'd be great if he'd speak out and debunk any false rumors. I'm ok with either candidate.
If I have to choose between a billionaire with progressive politics who has pledged to give his money away or a non-billionaire whob is further to the right, I'm going to go for policy every time. It seems we always have imperfect choices.
Steyer said he regrets it, divested years ago, and has apparently put in work at the state level to stop allowing private prisons. He's put his money into lots of progressive causes.
I'm still on the fence about Becerra. There are rumors he was (is?) close to David Miscavige of scientology fame.
For me it's Steyer's policies. He's mostly self-funded so he can tell us what he believes and not what his funders want him to say (f**kin citizens united). He wants to abolish ice, ban corporate pac money, tax corporations, he's great on climate policy, etc. Becerra seems ok, but not as good so far
LMAO you weren't actually joking earlier, were you? Why do I feel like this happens to women more than to men?
“How do you cover a profligate liar?” is the media question of our time and somehow the answer has been “exactly the same as you cover a consistent truth teller.”
Peter Thiel is evil. He doesn't care about ethics or the rights of others. Consequences are for other people. Idk about Tim Cook's politics but it seems like that much money and power has an extremely corrupting influence.
