THEY BREAK UPON US

Hello from the draft which starts TOMORROW I am told
i have a variety of gripes about SPLC but this is Some Bullshit and i might have to start giving them money again
This is your periodic reminder that Democrats introduced legislation in 2021 to ban gerrymandering nationwide and every republican voted against it except two who were absent.
Congrats!
Dying in office because you insisted on clinging to power until the very end instead of letting a new generation of leaders rise should be seen for the shameful, egomaniacal act that it is.
really excited to announce that as of today, i will be the executive editor at @liberalcurrents.com. LC is a project i have been involved with for some time now, and it's really come to mean something to me: an ideal of liberalism with both discipline and convictions
That is how neologisms work, for better or for worse. But the basic principle there is that, because Trump committed an insurrection, he legally can’t hold office (& thus his mass pardons are legally invalid & they can all be tried for the crimes they committed under the next legit admin)
I think Rosa DeLauro (Andrew Rice time?), Doris Matsui (Mai Vang incoming), and Frederica Wilson (no idea if her opponent is viable) seem like the most logical targets

"[T]he world is governed by demons and that he who lets himself in for politics, that is, for power and force as means, contracts with diabolical powers and for his action it is not true that good can follow only from good and evil only from evil, but that often the opposite is true....."
I cannot tell you how many policy conversations I’ve been privy to where the central dilemma is “we need to incentivize private actors to do something, but for unclear reasons they cannot be permitted to earn any sort of profit by doing it.“
LMFAOOOOO BRO SHE'S THE GOAT
I have been online and arguing about politics for nearly twenty five years and not once have I ever seen anyone respond to vote scolding with anything but "fuck you"
if you want to be mad at people for not voting, sure, knock yourself out
if you want them to vote next time, try a different tactic

Max Weber, Politics as a Vocation:
oh for fuck's sake
This administration has quite literally started a war and is now actively covering up the deaths of the soldiers it so enthusiastically loves to use overseas and then throw away once they get back home. This time they were caught doing it but how many times have they possibly already done this?

One of the most frequent causes of Charlie Kirk related cancellation was accurately representing his views, or even quoting them verbatim.
She expressed grief about Kirk's murder, and the only hateful thing in the comments came from Kirk himself.
wow it's almost as if congress should pass a federal anti-gerrymandering law 🤔
A headline/dek from Henry Abbott of TrueHoop: The Jeffrey Epstein guide to the playoffs Dirty billionaires mucking up a good thing
The Sixers section of Henry Abbott's article Josh Harris was an analyst at Drexel Burnham Lambert and co-founded Apollo Global with Leon Black, who funded Epstein’s operations for years. For reasons that have not been explained, Jeffrey Epstein emailed Leon Black’s assistant to say that he was arranging for Josh Harris to pay her $2.4 million. Harris met with Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Gates for an “intimate” breakfast at Epstein’s house. It was scheduled to last two hours, afterward Epstein emailed to ask Harris if he had fun. The money behind Harris comes from Apollo Global. The money behind David Blitzer, Harris’s partner in sports investments including the 76ers, comes from the Blackstone Group. Blackstone is a complex firm run by Stephen Schwarzman, whom Epstein knew, invited to dinner, and called “terrific.” There’s a lot more in this TrueHoop story.
Henry Abbott, you the real MVP

"Because of an editing error, an earlier version of this article misstated which day the New York Mets suffered their 11th straight loss. It was on Sunday, not Monday. Even the Mets cannot lose on an off day."
Two copy editors high-fiving so hard right now
Legal sedevacantism (also called civic or presidential sedevacantism) is that principle applied to the White House. It’s a legal theory that holds that the 14th amendment is self-executing & therefore legally speaking, Trump’s not actually the President, & any actions he takes can be rendered void
If you think spanberger is a radical, I fear the future is going to be more spooky
There’s a bomber Harris meme about this in here somewhere, I just need to find it
100%. Behind the scenes, Jeffries is much more effective. However, in the age of social media & the attention economy, we need our administrators in public leadership positions to take the next leap with their public-facing comms imo
(Added that to the main thread)
He’s much more effective behind the scenes than he is in public, which is most of the job, but if we could get solid public leadership like that memo half the time, it would be a massive improvement.
(He also should dump AIPAC & take a much more neutral stance in primary elections, but I digress)
You have to give them a taste to get them addicted
