Arguably the most enigmatic of all Gulls. Breeding in the most remote Arctic tundra habitats in the most inaccessible areas of the planet. It is rare. Breeding plumage adults are stunning but this 1st winter youngster still had plenty of appeal as it graced the fields near Thornham yesterday.

A dash on Monday morning to Lowestoft for what would have been Britains 2nd ever Pallas's Gull. Alas it wasn't one but nice to catch up with the overwintering Hume's Warbler.

Another great local bird for me this winter. A stunning (as always) Red-flanked Bluetail. Fairly elusive but showed well on occasions

We used to have two pairs of little Owls near our garden but sadly I had not recorded any for 2 years until this morning. This individual clearly staking out our feeders

My Christmas redbreast came in the form of this lovely male Eastern Black Redstart braving the cool wind on Sheringham beach today.

Another day and another Phylloscopus showed nicely at Holme NOA. While Firecrests at Titchwell continue to entertain!

Lots of bird activity at Wells woods this afternoon. Always special seeing the diminutive Pallas’s Warbler. A classic November rarity
