In partnership with We the Veterans and Military Families, Service to Service connects veterans and military families with public service education pathways and propels them into impactful careers in state and local government.
We are excited to announce the expansion of Service to Service to 16 more schools of public service for a total of 28 universities in the program. Service to Service builds clear pathways from military to civilian service to help veterans and military families serve again.
The 2026 cohort will expand to federal, state, and local governments–and will provide support through two tracks.
In collaboration with partners including the National Governors Association, National League of Cities, NACo, U.S. Conference of Mayors, and others, O@W and The Volcker Alliance are helping governments nationwide adopt skills-first hiring and advancement practices.
Building on the success of Opportunity@Work's inaugural Transformers in the Public Sector program, which helped states like Arizona, California, Colorado, Louisiana, and Utah embed skills-based talent practices, the 2026 cohort will engage an even broader range of government teams.
