This is the worst time line

Software development is 99% planning and 9,999% finding out what's wrong with your plan.
TLDR: Privatisation has failed. Again
Agentic is the new "on the blockchain".
a photo of a famous building in Petra
On the Arabian Peninsula in the Iron Age, there were a people called the Nabataeans. They created the city of Petra in the middle of a desert valley. To live there, they created a complicated plumbing system. It used pipe systems embedded in the rocks to collect and store rare rain water.
i've seen a few people run like that robot after trying caffeine gels for the first time
I can only marvel at the logic that concludes that organisations who want greater predictability from software development should wait as long as possible to test their assumptions.
Catching free trains in socialist Victoria's utopian plan to make all cars illegal. Fitting in with the UN decree that anybody leaving their 15 minute city will be shot
reading pitchbook newsletters and it's like they're written in bizarre jargon that's almost english but not quite
they say AI works and is succeeding, agents everywhere, agentic workflows, AI replaces SaaS
really means: the companies' book value is working for the VCs' reports to investors
I would expect something "butter" adjacent.
this morning, mamdani’s team got in touch with me to float a new tax proposal: if your net worth exceeds $5 million and you dress badly, you’ll be hit with a 10% annual levy for “visual pollution.” i would be in charge of deciding if the outfits are bad.
I've seen misinterpretation of requirements by teams - and the associated rework - drop dramatically when they explore concrete examples before writing code.
Unsurprisingly, it works with AI code generation, too.

A meme made from two screenshots from an episode of The Simpsons. The top image is a view of a bus driver from behind and the driver is saying "Don't make me tap the sign". The bottom image shows the driver's finger pointing at a sign that says "LLMs don't "know" things, they're statistical models.".
I agree with your thoughts. In this case it seems like consumer impact is low
Maybe I read it wrong. But they're not doing anything to the device, or purchases, except not allow new purchases on it. I think my Kindle is 15 years old, which is a better life then most of my tech
This is our 30 Years War.
A ruinously vicious conflict fought by people with relatively small religious differences in the greater scheme of things.
But who cannot imagine living in peace with their neighbours because in their self conception they exist purely to fight their neighbours.
Men, if there’s a man in your life who does this, it’s your job to punch him in the fucking face.
I'm currently in Canberra, I need to escape back to Vic.
If you want to donate to raise funds for research into children's cancer, I'd really appreciate it. live-for-lily-foundation.grassrootz.com/act-to-mcg/j...
I have so many questions.
I once was in a pub where there was a competition for a $2,000 bar tab. You had to do the craziest thing you could think of in front of the crowd. Winner by applause.
One guy literally nailed his dick to a wooden board then set it on fire. 🔥
He won.
This reminds me of that.
Without the bar tab.
Have we paused to consider if lots of Australian cafe owners are just idiots who don't know WTF they are doing? Call it Ockham's Toastie.
Too woke for blokes these days
The Overton window has been shifted into the shed
Watching this unfold is like watching the English cricket team claiming victory in the ashes because of the spirit in which they played. Certainly something.

People whinging on Bluesky.
Is code what we produce? Like a civil engineer produces concrete?
Not my industry. This is akin to NFT/Blockchain in the levels of grift.
Ben Roberts-Smith might be an accused mass murderer, but Grace Tame once wore a t-shirt and said ‘Intifada’.
