I shared a house with a guy that was one of her back-up singers on that tour.
Enjoying the WFMU Anita show - ‘the Jezebel of jazz’ and a no-messing lady!

Big fan: from Motown, to Helen Shapiro, to psychedelic early Quo, to orchestral lounge, to Cymande.
I have his autographed autobiography, sadly inscribed to ‘Mark’ but just technical detail😆
Mostly cars and ‘dolly birds’ and the 2nd edition wisely changed the title to ‘All For The Love Of Music’
Lovely! Some classics and a few I don’t know (more recent I guess) that stand up well.👍
I’ll catch up with it later!👍
Some beauties there (especially the Rothko!)
Patchy for me too.
Yes, as featured in your original post and the spark that lit the flame. I thought it was later than ‘58 but my memory is unreliable.
At work but I’ll catch up with the Monica show later.👍
Catching up with my Japan purchases and absolutely loving this 3CD set. @globaljukeboxer.bsky.social originally posted Anita’s ‘Jazz On A Summer’s Day’ performance (later in her career than this CD) and been wanting to catch up since.
Not only fantastic vocals but the backing is top drawer too!
Followed by Kid Creole and The Commotions!?
👍
I’ve championed them all but Jackie Trent a particularly undervalued singer for me.
Jealous of the vinyl!👍
You too Bruce! How’s the health?
Some art lives on forever….
Any album with ‘Always And Forever’ has a major head-start over the others.
Fantastic - all three greatly undervalued in my boo.
Love that! Made an old soulboy very happy.
Amen Peter!
Liking the look of that a lot!
I love my comps and (as I’m sure you know) it’s a generalisation but a lot of music at the funky/dancey end of things benefits from compiling since albums were usually, at best, a second thought or, at worst, full of filler.
Nice selection.
I’ve always had a lot of love for her solo output, ‘Lipslide’ in particular.

One of my budget Japan purchases accompanying me to work this morning.
Sleevenotes a bit tricky but the music is perfect for a bright and breezy morning in South (and West) London.
Cass Pennant lives up the road from me - gets the train and seen him at Waitrose (!) in his 4x4 with WEST HAM personalised plates.
Still a scary lump.

Off a comp in my case.
Btw Paul, I’m way behind with my reporting but I did request that one but without luck (see evidence!😆) although they did have another I didn’t risk.

From Elvis to The Velvet Underground in not that many years…
Lovely clean, precise comic art.
