The pictures of Trump sitting in the Oval Office next to Musk and seeing him look so old, weak, and out of it, is really underscoring how ridiculous it was that anyone thought Trump’s age compared to Biden was a selling point. Trump was not in charge in that room or of our country.

It is easier to break things than it is to fix things, you don't even need a good plan, your plan doesn't even need to work. You can throw a billion incompetent executive orders at the courts and they can knock every one of them down, and you'll still have undermined Democracy with the threat.
Federal grants are a major tool used to provide funding for essential local resources. This has the potential to be a massive shift in power TOWARDS the federal government and people who don't understand how the government works have no idea what's about to happen when local resources collapse.
We need to be perfectly clear about what this is: This is a tactic to eliminate privatized programs and services. Programs receiving grants that do not have reserve capital to survive an extended freeze will collapse. The cruelty is always the point.

Brief update: No real update. We're still not back home. I think they just turned our gas on, but my father-in-law is still working on getting professional cleaners. No particular damage to the house but it's smokey. So we're still in Limbo aka Orange County for at least a bit longer.
