RIP Todd Snider. One of our great musical storytellers — funny, tender, wise, and always human.

Been a Reds fan since 1978. In all those years, they’ve reached the World Series once. So I don’t pick sides anymore — I just root for Game 7 and games that end before midnight.

Prop Bets Must Die As long as one player can fix the outcome of a wager, the temptation will prove irresistible to some athletes.

Yesterday's sports gambling bombshell isn't an outlier. Actually, it's alarmingly normal. Gambling scandals are the new American pastime. But there is an easy way to head off the next crisis: Take prop bets off the board. My piece for the @theatlantic.com

Marc Maron played a Flaming Lips song when he signed off of his podcast for the last time, and since then I’ve been listening to Yoshimi on repeat. It’s got this blend of dreamy, electronic sounds and some really poignant, emotional storytelling.

It made me happy to see this Reds team scrap their way into the playoffs. Their quick exit doesn’t diminish that. This is a young team on the rise, and watching Terry Francona every day is fun. Can’t wait for opening day.

Most photos and reproductions don't capture the colors of Van Gogh's paintings well at all, and certainly not the vibrancy and texture of the brushstrokes. “Starry Night” stands out to me as one you must see in person. t.co/jPj7czpTc2

Where is this van Gogh painting, which hasn't been seen publicly since it was sold at auction in 1990?

Joel Youngblood at Riverfront, May ‘78. First MLB game I saw in person featured Tom Seaver against his old Mets teammates. Reds lost, but it didn’t diminish the experience.
