"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X

The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.

I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).

So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

Power without accountability: The Palantir manifesto The problems with our tech philosopher kings

New, from me: Take the Palantir manifesto seriously, if not literally.
It reveals that our tech philosopher kings want public money, but without public accountability. This creates a dilemma for governments unaligned with its techno-fascist vision. 🧵

I can’t believe the company that’s founded by a fascist vampire and named after an evil wizard‘s all seeing stone has some fucked up ideas about politics.

This week marks the 83rd anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. We remember the courage of our ancestors in the face of their annihilation.

this morning, mamdani’s team got in touch with me to float a new tax proposal: if your net worth exceeds $5 million and you dress badly, you’ll be hit with a 10% annual levy for “visual pollution.” i would be in charge of deciding if the outfits are bad.

Tell Congress to Say No to Warrantless AI Mass Surveillance The War on Terror-era legislation that authorized decades of civil liberties-eroding mass surveillance is set to expire on April 19. Congress should let it die. Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence...

Four Democrats voted with the GOP on reauthorizing a little-known law that lets the government sidestep the Constitution and spy on US citizens.

If you’re represented by Gluesenkamp Perez, Golden, Gottheimer, or Suozzi, ask them why they’re siding with the Trump regime on government surveillance.

I regret to inform you that “drunken idiot who isn’t interested in working” is the best case scenario for FBI director in a Trump regime.

Democrats planning to run in November’s midterm elections have been advised not to antagonise pro-AI campaign groups that have amassed more than $300mn to fight for the industry’s priorities.
The warnings by top party consultants, corroborated by people close to four different campaigns and party strategists speaking on the condition of anonymity, come despite internal polling for Democrats showing widespread public support for tougher AI rules.

They're calling it the best democracy ever.

I read this as the @joshtpm.bsky.social Series and got really excited for a second

So at the risk of maybe overreading this and making an educated guess, I think I can guess what specifically Wyden is talking about.

I think it's about use of AI (LLMs) by FBI to surveil American communications without a warrant

This is an almost perfect example of why the ruling class turns to fascism to crush the threat of socialism and the power of the working class.

Strong political parties that bend the rules to entrench their power and succumb to corruption are a consistent feature of democracy qua democracy. And if your entrenched ruling party can lose everything in a wave election, you are not living in an authoritarian state.

Nope. Nope. Nope. This post is just two false statements.

I love paying TurboTax a few hundred bucks every year to figure out how much money I owe the government, which the government already knows, but won't tell me because TurboTax pays legislators to keep the government from telling me. 😍

80% of young Americans want "major changes" or "complete reform" to our political system.

If we want to mobilize more young people for democracy, we should mobilize them against the political system and status quo.

If young people aren't as present at No Kings protests as we'd expect, I'd argue it's because they don't want to protect the political system we have. They want to change the political system.

2. The Vibecession argument often ignores the last 50 years of neoliberalism. There is an emotional cost to increases in the real price of core human needs (housing, education, child and elder care, food). Life feels harder.

And, everything is expressed in economic terms. Bad vibes = bad economy.

Not sure we're doing Vibecession Discourse again, but two thoughts:

1. Bidenomics mostly consisted of economic policies that were mediated through the market or tax code. People are much more likely to perceive benefit from direct government provision. Those policies can't pass the U.S. Senate.

I’m actually surprised to learn that the median age of No Kings participants is estimated to be 48—somehow still younger than the median general election voter, who is in their early 50s, or the median primary voter, who is in their late 50s
