Ehh I’d say that’s an oversimplification. User experience extends far beyond gameplay and certain “tedious” things are entirely necessary in a finished product. It’s case-by-case.
Never underestimate the time you’ll spend as a solo dev doing endless specific, unpredictable tasks like making nice linear volume sliders. I just want to make forest game but the extra QOL stuff adds up 😩
Yeah, looking to improve on this as a basic design. Needs to remain recognisable but more professional / polished

I try to playtest personally whenever I can, recently every few days. Makes it so much easier to spot where stuff is missing / unintuitive. Hoping to get it into a few people's hands once I've finished the tech tree work - the core systems will hopefully, finally mesh well. We'll see!
Thanks Rob! Very nearly there - on feature lock currently and refining the existing systems. Just the research / tech tree that’s due an iteration now.

Returning to game dev is going really well :D
