This is worse than someone telling the host at Chili’s that it’s your birthday, but also it’s a difference in degree and not in kind.

Anyhow, if you’re looking for something to do on 4/26, and you’re in or around Baltimore, that’s where I’ll be.
Prior talks I’ve done with the same organization covered Liberation Theology in Dune, genre fiction as a substitute for religious inquiry, racism in horror, specifically Lovecraft. I’ve got a book chapter on a theological read of Batman: The Cult.
Ask me about my St. John Brown of Virginia tattoo
A flyer advertising a talk on messianic themes in Dune, being delivered by Peter Herman on April 26 at 4pm at Guilford Hall Brewery in Baltimore, MD.
True story: I have a PhD in theology. I don’t teach any more, but I still give talks on religion in genre fiction. I’ll be talking about messianic themes in Dune, in advance of the third movie.

Quick trip out to Shenandoah today. Only took 2 sheets on the view camera, but hiked up here with the digital.

This roll turned into a Bob Ross-ian happy accident. I thought I'd loaded FP4 but had in fact loaded Pan F. Shot the roll metered for 125, so pushed development 1.5 stops. 0 digital contrast adjustments.

Same thing really.
Remember when he was preparing to buy Twitter and many of us were saying, but what about the racism?, and most people were indignantly insisting, "he's not racist!"
Just like with Trump. And now here we are.

Smartphone screenshot showing two New York Times “Breaking News” push notifications. The first, at 5:38 AM, says Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office over links to Jeffrey Epstein, citing the BBC. The second, at 2:01 AM, says Yoon Suk Yeol, South Korea’s ousted leader, was found guilty of leading an insurrection over his 2024 martial law decree. Each notification includes a “Share” option and a bell icon.
Watching other countries actually make their leaders and powerful men face consequences with jealousy.
I need to meet the person at the valentine factory who snuck this caked-up R. Crumb looking squirrel into the variety pack.
🚨"The white community is finally seeing what [Black people] have been saying all along—how government cover ups happen, how those in power lie and manipulate," arrested ICE church protester Nekima Levy Armstrong on Trump cover-ups of Renee Good & Alex Pretti murders.

Definitely seeing the appeal of the #LomoGraflok. Using it with an Omega View 45D | Kodak Ektar 152/4.5.
I really appreciate the combination of serious camera gear* with resolutely consumer-grade film stock and subject matter.
*arguments about how serious this camera is among 4x5s notwithstanding
Really fighting the temptation to go post something earnest on your Chim Pan Alley joke right now

Instant photo of a table in bright sunlight. A cardboard projector, a Calvin & Hobbes book, and a glove visible on the table top.
It’s not always black and white time around here. Getting the hang of the LomoGraflok.

You can call it tripled if you really MUST, but we prefer to think of it as perfectly roasted and delicately sauced rent.
Yes, Michelle. That famously perishable thing called rent. Apt metaphor. No notes.
Well, then you’ve got the ouroboros of using an AI powered detector to detect AI generated text on top of it all.

4x5 negative scanned to camera of the scene the view camera was set to capture (see other photo). A creek in winter, water flowing over a small lip in the creek bed, trees lining the far bank, rocks lining the near bank.
Strolled out with the 4x5 to take a few exposures at the creek. Also pictured: one of those exposures, developed in CineStill Df96, scanned with Fuji GFX 50s II | TT Artisan 100 macro.

You can tell a lot about a person based on whether they prefer Scrawl’s “11:59, It’s January” or The Zombies’ “This Will Be Our Year” for NYD.
Mostly you can tell whether they’re depressed, but that’s still kind of a lot.

Me: I am comfortable on different varieties of analog and digital cameras.
Also me: sure about that? Ok, then: LET’S GET READY TO RUUUUUUMMMMMBLE
