Okay I want a gold star: I'm getting *all* the email communication (and phone calls) out of the way today. Ripping that bandaid right off to get communication channels going on things 🫡
...granted, that also means no editing has been done, but I called Spectrum. That counts for something!!!
The world has vibes of medieval/feudal China or Japan, which as an anime nerd, I'm all for. If you enjoy the aesthetics of, say, Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin (disregarding what the author of that series did), Heaven Official's Blessing, and the like, then this is a similar vibe. The characters fight with Japanese weapons (tanto, kunai) and study martial arts. On the villain's side of the story, we also get a look at the titular demons, each one associated with something 'negative' and each one with a name which is the Mandarin or Japanese word for its attribute. For instance, in this book, we meet Kanashimi (sorrow/grief), a draconic-demon who develops an interesting relationship with the villain
My friend Alyssa is about to publish the second book of her danmei-inspired Dark Fantasy series!! I'll be posting WYVERN reviews over the course of the next week, but to get started, I wanted to post the first book's reviews all in one handy thread!
Here's my review for Book 1: Dance of Demons
Every time I send an email from my author email, I remind myself I really need to set up my signature. I keep changing email clients and losing my signature and then not wanting to deal with it again.
...but not having one is both bad marketing & looks sus and yet I just hit sent again regardless

A pastel orange post with translucent yellow flowers in the background. Background repeats for the following five slides. This is a post about AI. More specifically, a post about myself, my writing, and how I refuse to let AI change the way I create art. Because there’s a lot of talk about how to do that as an author, and that is honestly pretty scary to me.
Every day, it feels like, something new emerges - a new way to tell AI-generated writing from real human writing. The em dash. The rule of three. “It’s not just X, but Y!” The concept of metaphors. All alleged symptoms of AI-generated text. What’s next?
(Cross-posting from Instagram, so it looks a lil clunky. Hopefully it's still decently readable.)
I genuinely hate what generative AI is doing to art - and the people who create it - and I refuse to take part in this ridiculous song and dance.
Thank you! 💙

Local cat girl complains when want brush but says doesn’t. Her human roommate is exasperated and goes to bed. Find out what happens next in this fluffy shojo romance
((The fluffy pun was not intentional but we’re going to say it was))
Shyama is learning tsunderes don’t get brushes, and it’s a rough night for her now
(If she came over here, she’d get brushes too but no, she must judge from afar while staring longingly at Krishna getting brushed while she’s not)
Cancel Spectrum (internet) is the next thing on my todo list, and I'm not trying until tomorrow
...but also, man, I'm sad that's the next thing on the list. Can I swap it around for something else instead??? (I can, but it still has to get done rip)
QTP with a video game that transports you back to your childhood
A crystal longsword with a winged hilt and purple gemstone.
The Crystal Light Blade! 1000 years before Lost Blades, Ebryn Stormlight made a deal with Hades to have the Blade forged in exchange for helping her fight Abomination.
A bit of a pretentious name! As Takeshi says:
"Naming a blade [in my country] is seen as… a bit tacky."
Premade cover with the placeholder title of "Coffee for your Thoughts" and "Author name" at the bottom. It shows a woman with olive skin, dark eyes and dark curly hair tied in a ponytail, dressed in a yellow apron and black shirt and pants, smiling and handing a cup of coffee to a white woman with long red hair and brown eyes, wearing a blue dress with a pink flower pattern at the hem. The white woman is by a table at the supposed coffee shop, the balcony and coffee machine are in the backgroun in green.
So here's my first premade cover! I'm selling it over on vgen! For $99 (or you can pay +$50 to turn this into a print cover), this baby is yours! I can fully customize all colors as well ^^

I've noticed the mild spring down here in the south comes with...direct consequences for y'all in the north. I'm sorry for relishing the non 100f weather down here and appreciate your involuntary sacrifice 🥲
And I'm basically done with the semester now \o/ I need to present on Thurs the poster I turned in just now & make any corrections people bring up on Fri, but I'm not anticipating anything huge so now I'm gonna sneak away to Riyati before my advisor knows I have a sec--
I'm sure it was auto and likely off of the back mermaid somehow, but man xD it's such a pretty piece too! Glad it's been freshly released from automod imprisonment
I'm not allowed to brush Shyama with the slicker brush on my desk anymore because she's not a responsible lady if I do: she's started demanding brushes with it and won't get out of the way so that I *must* brush her
I've never had a cat I needed caution tape around a brush for, this is new
She has a back. How dare she

Hari is being exceptionally cuddly this morning which can only mean 1) he did something terrible I haven't found out about yet 2) he wants something from me 3) both (most likely)
