In retrospect I dunno why I had gotten in my own head about streaming, last night's stream went fine (if you ignore the microphone sounding like crap because my computer had been set to use the headset microphone rather than the actual microphone).

Correction: Pro is up $150 in the States, also a 20% price hike. Given that the Pro was always priced for profit, that does strike me as excessive. Also RIP the $599 PS6 dream.

Rumours for now, but hiking the price of the base PS5 (with disc drive) by 22% would be brutal if confirmed.

This will end up being likely a monologue and part of the intro of this week's premium, but every single person that wrote a "Sora 2 is destroying Hollywood" piece should be apologizing to their audiences and to the entertainment industry for deliberately misleading and scaring people in TV/Cinema

Y'know those AI "beauty filters" you see on Chinese phones? Yeah, Nvidia decided to make that the flagship feature of DLSS 5. I probably should have expected AI upscalers in games to jump the shark eventually, but woof.

This DLSS 5 AI dogshit is actually depressing man.

Even worse is that a whole generation is growing up who won't even know this looks 'bad' or 'wrong' because to them it'll be normal.

We need to push back harder against it.

Also would make the "Project Helix only runs PC games ergo Xbox is dead" discourse really funny if developers are already throwing PC builds on the Xbox Series.

So, like, I can only assume that the PC build ran well enough on the Series S for Square Enix to just yeet it on there unannounced, otherwise I don't have a good explanation why Xbox is getting a version and Playstation hasn't.

(and Bend and Media Molecule too, but they haven't shipped anything in years so their fates were already sealed)

Having spent a couple of hours playing Marathon yesterday: yeah, not for me. Admittedly I did get my butt kicked throughout, but I was still searching for the fun a couple hours in and then I was like, nah, gonna play something else.

Sarah Bond resigning is the bigger news, since everyone was assuming she would be Phil's replacement. The fact that the top Xbox job went to a yeswoman from the AI division instead doesn't inspire confidence in the future of the Microsoft-owned devs (and the rumoured Xbox PC is prob canned)

Is PlayStation Studios out of ideas? No small games? Not trying to make a frendslop game for consoles? Not remaking Bloodborne? Or remaking other Sony back catalogue game? Or even doing ports? Not even porting the Demons Souls remake to PC? Nothing?

Yeah, Riot halving 2XKO's development team three weeks after the console launch does not inspire confidence in the long-term for this game.

So yeah, it looks like the Steam Machine has been hosed by the RAM shortages. Steam Frame is probably also getting hit, but as the Index replacement it could get away with being $700+. The Machine can't, it needs to be cheap.

UPDATE: In a statement sent to Insider Gaming, NetEase has denied telling its studios to no longer use AI. “The situation described did not occur, and we have not published any related policies,” a NetEase spokesperson said.
