Especially as an SNP government doesn’t need both votes to be re-elected or to introduce a private jet tax and a mansion tax on homes worth over £1 million

In fact, if the second vote went to the Scottish Greens, it would help ensure those policies passed through Parliament with far less opposition

I agree in principle, but I’d like to see the proposed policy first, especially how they define a “fair market price”.

Would the Scot Gov be able to force an owner to accept an offer it decides is fair?

Why can't the tenant simply be the first to put their offer on the table and await the outcome?

Agreed 👍 SNP may be the vehicle but:

1. They need more passengers in that vehicle - they won’t get there alone.

2. They need to fill the vehicle’s fuel tank and put a heavy foot on the accelerator pedal.

Unfortunately, Labour have been in power in Scotland and across the rest of the UK since 2024, which is one of the main reasons Grangemouth effectively closed.

Sarwar, acting as the UK branch manager in Scotland, was little more than a lying mouthpiece used to help get Labour into government.

Thank you 👍

Just out of curiosity - were you aware that there would be a charge of £25 before going to them or informed there would be a £25 charge before being examined?

Voting SNP on the regional ballot does not guarantee an SNP majority, as you claim.

What voting SNP on the regional ballot does is increase the number of seats unionist parties receive, unless the second vote goes to the Scottish Greens. That is a proven fact.

Almost guaranteed to get in being on top of the regional list (he isn't named on that ballot paper - just listed as Labour).

Anas Sarwar is also on the regional list for the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.

He is first on Labour’s Glasgow regional list, meaning he is again standing on the list as well as in the constituency.

Yes. Sarwar lost his constituency seat at the last election to Nicola Sturgeon, but he was placed at the top of the Labour regional list.

That is the only reason he is in Holyrood at all.

"Jackie Baillie is on the Labour regional list for West Scotland and she is listed first on that party list. She is also standing in the Dumbarton constituency.

So she is effectively running on both ballots constituency candidate and top regional list candidate".

Ironically, the UK Parliament could choose to apply to rejoin the EU without holding a referendum.

The EU ref happened because Parliament legislated for it, not because referendums are mandatory in the UK.

They could pass legislation authorising an application under Article 49 of the EU Treaty.

The property is being sold either way.

Ha - the Scotsman 😁

The key unresolved issue is how “fair market rate” would be defined and the rights of the Landlord to reject the offer.

This is a political pledge rather than enacted law, so consultation and legislation would determine the final answer.
