It should be noted that Bovino is actually describing mass ethnic cleansing, not mass deportations.

It’s horrible, yes, but it’s also kind of funny that all of these people are too afraid of Trump to say in public that he lost that election. Every Democrat should ask each one the same question just to emphasize what craven buffoons they are.

Tis true.

"Finding the smallpox to be spreading much and fearing that no precaution can prevent it from running thro’ the whole of our Army, I have determined that the Troops shall be inoculated." - General George Washington, 6 Feb 1777

“We didn’t know what we were voting for.”

SPY magazine ranks Trump as third worst New Yorker of 1987, down from first in 1986.
Loathsomeness score: 10 out of 10.

Amazing that anyone’s brain is infantile enough to believe that tech overlords who would burn the world down before they would pay taxes and who don’t even want you to have healthcare or mail delivery really want to see you get a big check every month for nothing.

City planners know perfectly well that physical infrastructure can change behavior...they're just reluctant to apply that approach to cars. Ever seen the big rocks they put in places they don't want people to camp? Turns out the same thing works with drivers!

This! I was just at a meeting where an older woman cyclist said she won’t ride *on our Main St.* because of the lack of infrastructure; she rides on recreational multi use paths only. How sad! I do so many errands downtown - I hate that she feels afraid (her word) because of unpredictable cars.

96 years ago tonight, CBS’s first breaking news broadcast went out from the scene of one of the deadliest fires in US history, in a voice identified only as “Convict X-46812.”

For @columjournreview.bsky.social, I wrote about how this forgotten Black prisoner spurred the creation of CBS News. 🗃️

Several years ago, I was coming out of a local bagel shop. Dude looks at my e-bike, rolls down his window, and says "That's cheating."

I looked at him and said "Dude, you drove an F350 to a bagel shop. I don't think you get to judge cheating."

She's a Bronx kid (so was I, but 40 years earlier). We all learned "Italian" (& "Yiddish" & "Spanish [multivariate]") gestures & bits of vocabulary (mostly rude), because as arguably the most multicultural US city, a shared patois is ESSENTIAL.

The thing is you have a Secretary of Defense who quite literally does not think germs are real, he explicitly rejects germ theory

The question to ask isn't "why did pete do (x)," it's "why did roger wicker vote to confirm a guy who literally doesn't think germs are real"

It's really incredible that Mark Zuckerberg is inventing new bad business practices on the fly. "We will train our AI to work like you" gonna be very funny when the training data captures some freaks working around the company Internet filters.

New York Sues Coinbase, Gemini Over ‘Illegal’ Prediction Markets New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) is suing two cryptocurrency exchanges operating prediction market platforms, alleging they skirt the state’s gambling laws.

Gemini and Coinbase's so-called prediction markets are just illegal gambling operations that expose young people to addictive platforms.

Gambling by another name is still gambling. I'm suing to stop these platforms from breaking the law.

flipping through a proof of yet another book from a somewhat well known liberal voice diagnosing “where the left went wrong” and i’m struck, again, by the fact that a large part (if not most) of the liberal commentariat simply does not believe that the political right has agency.

Irans gotta be looking at Trump folding on this last minute without them budging on much of anything and being like "ok so basically we own this guy now, right?"

"In the place of problem-solving technology, companies have jumped on successive bandwagons like NFTs, the metaverse, and LLMs. What these all have in common is that they are not built to really solve a market problem. They are built to make VCs and companies rich."

Did Kash Patel read his own lawsuit?

When asked why he was locked out of his computer — as The Atlantic reported and Patel *admitted* in his lawsuit — Patel denied it happened: "I was never locked out of my systems," he just claimed.

Southern Poverty Law Center indicted on federal fraud charges related to past use of paid informants The Southern Poverty Law Center has been indicted on federal fraud charges related to its past use of paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups.

The justice department literally choosing to sue a non profit on behalf of the ku klux klan in an election year is incredible.

Actually a fascinating decision to make.

I'm in this boat. Was against Biden in the primary, viewed him as a stick in the mud. The level of miracles he was able to make happen turned me into more of an optimist about how government can work and how the Democrats can govern. Even now that has not changed.
