it’s soooo upsetting like there’s a ton of resources out there now to help ppl and youtube on top of that
sure in splatoon’s world there are characters with all skin colors imaginable but let’s not act like there isn’t some basis from the real world that applies to the natural skin tones represented. a better world is possible, more understanding and empathy is needed needed honestly
thing is i was able to talk with some JP artists before about this and respectfully help them to understand. what baffles me is when you see some ppl draw melanin perfectly fine but then they’ll draw a dark skinned character gray (who isn’t Beika from C-Side)
those photo filters, skin care products and more that cause an obsession with fair skin are really a problem. your proximity to whiteness should not make you more favorable. a character who has dark skin should be drawn as they are. the reference is right there bro, study lighting effects i beg yall
gonna need to make a video on the frequent occurrence of artists lightening the skin of black / POC characters and WHY it’s annoying and hurtful bc some twitter users are pissing me off. using these artists as a means to fuel their racism (bc some replies aren’t splatoon accts either) is gross

the key to a good fandom experience is finding 3 people you can say anything to and then never give a flying fuck about anyone else’s opinion
obviously excluding the stuff that’s ecchi just for the sake of it bc there’s situations kids should not be put in and trying to filter that stuff out has always been annoying as an avid anime watcher. when i got my little sister into anime i had to make a specific list without weird tropes lmaoo
i wonder if a lot of anime series take place in high school simply because creators are nostalgic for those years. i want more anime about adults which we are getting now but i guess there’s something about coming of age stories and saving the world after class that hits
