I'm sorry. The President of the Business Council of Canada is named GOLDY HYDER?!? Is the past president Cash McSteals? Where is VP Bucks Gogone?

I string together a few good weeks or months, I think it's over, the meds are finally working, I'm going to be better now, maybe not well or abled but better, and then I hit a flare-up and I am shocked, how could this happen, who could have predicted this of chronic illness

It's wild how chronic illness catches me by surprise every time. like, it's right there in the name but I never expect it

The other aspect we need to remember 42% voted for Pollievre - that is normal majority territory. This is a respite from far right, not a save.

The sooner Canadian progressives learn that strategic voting is a con the liberals use to make left wing people vote for a right wing party without needing to give any concessions the better. They literally do this every election

If you are #disabled, don't feel bad if you can't:
- Boycott Amazon
- Go to a protest in person

Do what you need to do for yourself first. Then, find another way to fight back.
- Help organize protests online
- Spread awareness
- Call representatives

There isn't only 1 right way to help.
#Resist

I'm generally not wild about strategic voting, but if you know someone who's considering it, this is a useful tool for determining if it's likely to be effective in a particular riding

It's election day in Canada, and I know some people are pretty apathetic about voting.

But today is a rare opportunity to make Pierre Poilievre—who is, by all reports, a giant asshole on every single level—profoundly unhappy.

How often in life do you get the chance to make a shitweasel bully cry?

Hospital acquired COVID has a 10% fatality rate & is almost completely avoidable with clean air & masking

Why aren’t we doing it? Why aren’t people enraged when someone goes in for care & dies of COVID?

It’s because they think those vulnerable people were going to die soon anyways. It’s eugenics

The thing to understand is that an LLM is not in any sense reading and understanding your words. It is not interpreting and producing “factual claims”; it is interpreting and producing “completions that are possible.”

Was the person who came up with “whoopsie daisy” the same person that said “toodle-loo” or were they just soul mates

It’s important to recognize that EVERY attack on trans people ultimately undermines every person’s human rights. We demonstrate individual freedom, complete bodily autonomy, and self-determination at a scale they can’t abide, & that’s why they want to strip us of those rights.

A stick covered in circular splitgill mushrooms that look like the gunshot wounds in the terminator that can turn into liquid metal. This stick has been turned upside down so we can see the gills. All photos by me

That any person finds utility in an AI system that normalizes their speech and presents them as "respectable" for the purposes of gaining access to resources and society is not praise for AI, but a condemnation of society.

me: my life is too stressful, maybe I should play Stardew Valley again to relax
me two days later having a panic attack about catching that one fish at night while it's raining before the season ends: ah nuts

my mom has alzheimers and my aunt is in hospice with lung cancer and I've been thinking about the things that make them both happy
flowers
small children
talking about how spring is coming
animals and pet photos
remembering the songs they used to sing their children
lemon squares
seeing a groundhog

maybe I will get an instant camera just so I can wander around and take photos of birds and flowers and then I can fill my journal with birds and flowers

my mom has alzheimer's and has recently rediscovered mirrors. she says her friends live in there and gets really excited that wherever she goes that same lady is in the mirror, she really likes that lady. it's almost kind of nice

I've accepted that I can't work and I'm okay with not being able to be all that "productive" or social, but it's so hard when people need me and I can't show up for them the way I'd like to

Here in Canada, there was an election debate last night and in response to the one (1) climate change question, the major parties' proposals were a) more pipelines, and b) even MORE pipelines than that 👍

Guys, I love all of you, but the answer to RFK, Jr. is not that autistic adults hold jobs, pay taxes, and get laid, it's that everyone deserves to live even if they can't work, pay taxes, or get laid.
