Three figures surrounded by a swirl of magic and candlelight. The central figure is behind the front two who are facing away from each other. The person to the left is Aelis. Dark Hair, light skin, black lipstick, a single formal braid in her hair wrapping around her ubraided hair. She has one are up with a wand that is casting a ward shaped like a buckler shield. She is holding her sword backhanded. She has laced up sleeves that go up to her biceps with a sleeveless iridescent dress. An ornate sword scabbard hangs from her waist. The gothic filigree with skulls and daggers in the trim and lace of the dress and sleeves match the scabbard. The person on the right is Amadin. He is an elf man, short brown hair, red cloak over short sleeve blue Tunic with a quilted pearl studded gambeson underneath, and a crystal staff holstered at his hip. He is holding a wine glass in one hand and charging magical energy in the other. The central figure standing above the others is Miralla. She is dark skinned, 4C hair in an afro, black lipstick, eyes glowing white, a thin circlet with glowing gem, and matching earrings. She's wearing a lace collared sleeveless dress, with a radial gothic eye pattern surrounded by a halo of rays. Both of her hands raised up, one hand open, palm up, and one hand loosely pointing.

Tomino's misogyny unintentionally created the circumstance for Urobuchi to have this empathetic wake up.

But there's a beautiful irony in Urobuchi's pipeline here. Fanservice and sexualized characters receive legit criticism for their objectifying aspects. But conversely, getting horny for a character is also an emotional attachment.

If it isn't clear, I love taking Tomino out behind the shed. I think he has huge problems with women.

Tomino: women are largely emotionally incompetent creatures who only serve to complicate men's lives and distract them from important things like denying their homosexual desires through acts of genocide.
Gen: empathy is a hell of a drug.

The bigger takeaway from this is learning that Gen Urobuchi's type is 1980s American wine moms.

It's just a type of novel format in Japan. Generally, they're not very long, easy reads, with illustration, and aimed at a teen to twenty something audience. A number of IPs got started at Light Novels like Vampire Hunter D, Lodoss War, Dirty Pair, Slayers, and Haruihi Suzumiya.

Linda Belcher's dress is Bayonetta’s classic bodysuit. She’s winking with a sucker in her mouth and holding to witchery glocks.
Sharing this Linda Belcher X Bayonetta piece I commissioned @swayart.bsky.social for last year. I know he thought I had lost it at first, but he eventually got the vision as only Sway can 🥰

I will add, that those dumb political form protest posts are more useful from someone like my mom because it's reaching an audience who isn't as exposed to leftist shit. It's still kinda flaccid, but any drop in the bucket is still a drop that wasn't there before.

Her behavior is fantastically weird.
I often describe her as behaving, sort of like she's in a different show than everyone else and doesn't realize it.

This shit got MY mom to post one of those super useless chain letters on facebook. Which is, like, her version of making a difference.

I'm curious how much of their first few episodes are reshoot and how much is salvaged work. I've heard a lot of "first episode is rough, but it gets better".

Once these Let Billions Suffer voters see how gruesome letting billions suffer gets they will surely come crawling back to the Let Millions Suffer party and we’ll finally be able to win elections without catering to those troublesome Nobody Should Suffer radicals

Crushed blacks are a lost art, also. I adore these crisp, delineated shadows. The kind of stuff Dean Cundey made a name for himself doing and then kinda just stopped.

It's been a minute since I was in film school, but if I recall correctly, that whole first season was basically shot on flashlights and the most basic and limited of equipment because it was so cheap and they just leaned into it for great effect.

A close up detail of the new Mad with Power fest shirt featuring legally distinct, parodies of characters from a franchise no one has ever played.
A screen shot of the unfinished file layers showing the organization of colors intended for printing. Demonstrates how layers of haltone or dithering can create color variety.
Designing shirts like this is like the 4D chess of art, I swear. AI can imitate style, but it can’t generate file. And file is what I’m hired for. This is a five color screen print. My last two for Mad with Power were only fours I think. The greens here just had to be a flat. I couldn’t cheat them.

And given where I am at narratively, I should still be on target for this volume to conclude 100k longer than the last, but it might, somehow, end up less. I really hope it ends up less.

I wrote over 48,000 words a month, roughly, last year.
I've only really had about a month and change since I started volume 2, and I'm at 60k.

I was afraid I was losing pace with my monthly word count average, especially with all the interruptions this year. I have not. I might actually be exceeding it, but I'm not going to get into the minutae of weeks and days.

It's a photoshoppy, realistic boring ass dude with bad hair in a halfassed regency style fantasy outfit that looks more like a last-minute renn faire costume than a futuristic, gothic vampire, against a green space backdrop. The cover for the American version of
A beautiful book cover of Noble V: Greylancer by Ayami Kojima depicting the protagonist in an ornate black outfit with layers of chainmail and gold brocade, with fantasy armor and a cape. It is highly stylistic of Kojima's oil painting technique. He has good hair. The impasto of her oil paints is evident in the photography of the piece for the cover.
I will always be salty about this absolute downgrade in every possible regard.

I really need a more modern, comprehensive collection of Ayami Kojima’s art. Everyone in the west knows her for her paintings, but she is a prolific ink illustrator as well and a lot of it just isn’t available outside of its original publications. (Side eyes the American release of Greylancer)
