It really cannot be overstated that COVID happened, suddenly a bunch of absentee tech dads were forced to stay home where they saw their kids playing Animal Crossing while talking on Discord, then collectively decided to light a trillion dollars on fire to make Snow Crash IRL.

I probably worked on it.

Taking bets on what the discord equivalent of cohost ends up being.

yeah I highly recommend FluffyChat its what I've been testing out, its far closer to an instant messenger mixed with discord

Discord is going to be twitter 2.0. Everyone sits around waiting for the perfect answer twiddling their thumbs until jumping on the first corporate answer thrown at them and we're back there a year later with everyone shocked the new corpo overlords aren't any better.

Matrix. Just use Matrix. Its the most mature platform, actually works, and has multiple clients that support multi person video calls with screen sharing.

Also vacuum cleaners, large power tools, microwaves, that toaster oven, and commercial hair styling products.

Your original idea isn't actually very original and that's fine, that's normal. Don't crash out and throw everything away when you find out someone else had a similar idea 5 years go.

Look, all I'm saying is I figured out that fella was a loose cannon long before we came to "invents a thing that lets users generate non-consensual pornography and even CSAM"

Remember when most studios had an intern in a closet working on "blockchain technology" to make investors happy? The shoving AI into the the part of the workflow where it will have the least impact feels the same. Things feel very investor-y right now.

The best talk I ever gave was just screen shots of visual studio and hex editors I talked over. People vastly over value graphical quality for talk slides. Unless, as you said, you're trying to get a suit to give you money; then you need to get someone to make pretty graphics. But not AI obviously.

yeah its high-bandwidth memory

I'm not going to write 100 of these to explain it all out in skeets. But the main thing is that the shortage is real. And the shortage is more than consumer, AI is fucking everything right now. Expect everything from cars to medical devices to climb in price over the next year. HBM has narrow use.

Chip manufacturing is complicated and there are only 3 companies that do it for RAM. Consumer has always been RAM's second focus, Crucial was getting shut down either way. Its too complicated for skeets, but tl;dr AI bought 100% of the production capacity because industrial is the preferred client.

oh yeah the last thing I want to eat is sparkly potatoes and meat, save that for a light dusting on cupcakes or cocktails if you're going to use it at all.

its not made out of plastic, they're sugar or starch and food coloring. Some of them are metal flakes or mica, inert edible metals like silver and gold. But they're never made of plastic. Its food, it has a food label. But yes its a terrible idea for clicks.

most places already do something like this, its why suburbs get built with the same 4 plans stamped around. But land grading varies from area to area wildly, as does soil, so you have to re-vet the building plans for the new building location. These reviews exist for safety.

A commonly-misunderstood aspect of computer security is that you are battling computers.

No. That is not right at all. Computers are barely involved.

You are battling humans who eat apathy and coordination problems.

even before AI this was a problem. I have seen so many things almost ship because they were placeholders that were too good. We got used to them but they would have stood out on release and been extremely ugly. Or in a couple cases a copyright problem (legal for use not for ship)
