i wasn’t able to send $$ to anyone for a year. but i did what i could & was open. just by being open, i made some genuine, very sweet friendships and have learned so much about daily life in gaza. that’s so valuable to me and it has honestly changed me. i feel sad for these people, driven by shame

they prefer palestinians be abstract. not like, right there. begging to be seen.

and they don’t understand how easy it is to talk to most of the palestinians here, how quickly they’ll jump on a video call with you, or how understanding they are when you say you can’t help them monetarily

now i work at a cat shelter. where a $25K check just rolls in on a friday no one was expecting, like 😭

cat shelters are amazing and deserve to be funded and i like my job so much, and it’s how im paying rent rn so i’m thankful.

but it’s wild to be on the other side, with a cause that really doesn’t struggle to raise funds. it’s like…so this is where all the money’s going, huh? lol
