I think the greatest trick for getting good at creative work i know is - finish making as many mediocre things as possible. Just finish stuff, again and again. Share it or don’t, but put a bow on it, put it aside, make the next thing, repeat.

Anyways, that’s what I’ve been up to. Aside from. You know. The Elisabeth das Musical shaped hole I walked into. I mean. It is partially at fault for me starting these projects in a way… but Ive been interested in historical sewing for a while, so it’s been a catalyst?
The waistcoat is made of moire, which is an absolute bitch to source in the year 2026, but the watered effect it has irl is really beautiful, and I learned some tailoring techniques along the way so I’m very happy how it turned out!
I also added a little system so it can pull up like a curtain, it really brings out the changing colors of the fabric so well. Also made a bustle since it’s period appropriate, so I can finally know how it feels to have a big ass?…
It all started because I managed to get an absolute criminal deal on 6 meters of silk on vinted, and I was like… I cannot do something boring with this….. and theres a lot of material…
I shouldve enough left to make a bodice to match, haven’t decided on what I want it to look like yet though.
Also Ive been getting into historical patterns recently. So heres an 1890s skirt and waistcoat.
