I miss our chats.
This is grilled squid in green sauce and watermelon salad. A Cypriot dish I saw cooked by Hasan Semay on TV some years back. It’s bloody delicious.
I am exceptionally late to the party I’ve really taken to Hollow Knight.
I like the freedom of making my own little expedition plans for a play session and I trust its soft progression system will guide me to new stuff.
The vibe and narrative is immaculate.
Let’s look at a cool painting for a few minutes.
You can really feel that the work has been *done*. I rarely feel that so clearly. Especially in something with a fantastic edge. I’m very glad I bought it.
I’ll be thinking about this for a while. But it slots into the jigsaw of English fantastical/grounded/horror-ish “things” rather pleasingly.

Telling another cowboy to stand down:
Grounded, pastoral horror vibes which veer through “folk” into Cold War nuclear dread, but more explicitly about nationality, identity, and explicitly queer sexual awakening (on BBC1 in 1974). Was continually surprised by it, especially by the poetry of the dialogue and surreal blood in its veins.
Bafflingly good. At no time could I predict the next scene. Just about “coming-of-age” shaped but will stand any number of readings.
I’m amazed I’d never heard of this.
A Blu Ray box containing Penda’s Fen (1974) with a spooky grinning demon face (or something) on the cover.
Time for a glass of Vimto and a watch of this (hat tip: @gralefrit.bsky.social )
@jacobwmills.bsky.social Happy Birthday, sir. Have a fun day.

A brick building with multicoloured, painted panels.
Had a little walk around #Byker
I did say that.
all good fiction asks questions, and warhammer asks questions like “what happens when a medieval peasant soldier fights a giant rat with a machine gun”
I must check this out.
But this does feel like an elaborate, alternate reality prank.
Had to google Penda’s Fen.

Hi Candy.
Welcome back to the Artemis II crew :) Such a huge relief watching them arrive safely!
In last night’s dream I had to present something while dressed in my pyjamas, then I discovered I was covered in insects.
It was a lot.
I love your truly horrible monsters.
Imagine. Imagine being a human being who wanted this service.
Imagine being the soulless ghoul who made it.
This is how you Saturday. A good comic book, a good flat white, my gorgeous wife woke up to good news. Perfect.
So when do the Artemis crew start manifesting superpowers?
It makes more sense if you imagine Pennywise living in a local duck pond.
A Baltimore-based thread to explain one singular, overriding reason why American journalism is incapable of compassing and explaining the astonishing misrule and the implosion of all our governing norms. To wit:

Kind of at cognitive saturation point.
Family tragedy, busy work, global instability. It’s a lot.
My brain feels like a wet brick.
