Having played my prototype for hours during its development, I thought it was relatively bug free. Tonight I got my 7 year old nephew to playtest it for me a bit. One of the last things I needed to implement for my initial prototype was swimming. Got it added yesterday. The water itself is a little rough and will need more work once I get past the prototyping phase, but I like how the swim animations look in it. #godot #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame
I have a chronic problem spending way too much time overpolishing what should be rough prototypes. I spent 3 hours last night fixing a tiny edge case visual bug that doesn’t even matter other than making my eye twitch with the knowledge it existed. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

I got my audio manager working for basic sound effects and started adding a few into the game. Some of these are likely gonna be only placeholders for the initial rough draft of the game, but I like how they sound and make the game feel. #godot #gamedev #indiedev
Modeled, rigged, and animated this little chicken for use in my latest project (gonna have a little quest where you have to herd a few of them into a pen). Added in a super super basic inventory system and made it so you can get items from chests. The chest functionality took far longer than I'm willing to admit to get everything working and decoupled. It's still very barebones and ugly but at least it works. #Godot #gamedev #indiedev
Got the beginnings of the interact system working. Got the interaction focus outline, smooth camera repositioning, and reorienting the player towards the interactable all working. Spruced up my test island with some textures, water, and a tiny bit of atmospheric fog. It’s probably not the greatest thing to be working on aesthetics this early when I have a lot more core functionality I need to add, but it’s fun to experiment while I’m learning 3D. #Godot #gamedev #indiedev
Not 100% sure yet. I’m thinking something along the lines of A Short Hike where it’s mostly about exploration, movement ability unlocking, and NPC interaction. It’s my first foray into 3d so I’m just experimenting so far.
I made the beginnings of an island so I don't have to test on ugly orange CSG meshes anymore. It's very rough, but I learned a ton about the workflow and I think it's okay for my first attempt. Will probably end up redoing it from scratch several times to practice. #Godot #gamedev #indiedev
Been tweaking the animations a bit. It's not much, but I am finding that small changes can go a long way to make things feel better. Added a bank/tilt when turning while gliding and added a tiny bit of squish when impacting the ground. #gamedev #indiedev #Godot

One of the small quests in the first level is going to be hunting crows to get their feathers to give to the town fletcher (still need to do the feather spawning). They fly away when you get too close so you can't sword them to death. The crossbow is needed. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #godot
Finished the werewolf enemy. He is immune to sword damage until you stun him by hitting him with the crossbow a few times, although you need a bit of space to hit the shot as if you are too close/point blank, he'll block it. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #godot

Whipped up this crossbow. It's not the fastest shooting weapon ever and it's not very effective against skeletons, but it will do the job in a pinch. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #godot
