Great to end the week with submitting an abstract to #EAWOP in 2025 in Prague and having a spontanous friday beer with colleagues 😊

After-hours work can erode health and balance in hybrid workers. Our brand new study links long hours, late nights and quick returns to burnout, pain and work-home conflict in a sample of Norwegian workers (n=1465) followed four-waves. #workfamily#hybrid

Since the pandemic, the two-tier labour market has become clearer—those who can work hybrid and those who can’t. On days like this, I’m reminded of the real privilege of working from home! In my latest Substack, I explore who gets to WFH, who doesn’t, and what it means for the labour market.

With a fully remote team of just 20 employees, Bluesky has surpassed 20 million users in its first year since opening to the public and is stealing thunder from rivals hundreds of times its size.
At a time when conventional wisdom among bosses is that workers must be in-person to be productive.
In a new article in Nature Scientific Reports I find that male PhD students are almost twice as likely than female PhD students to obtain a cum laude distinction for their dissertation. A cum laude is very rare, and only awarded to 5% of Dutch PhD students.

Kurt Vonnegut tells his wife he's going out to buy an envelope: "Oh, she says, well, you're not a poor man. You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet? And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope I meet a lot of people. And see some great looking babies. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And I'll ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know. The moral of the story is - we're here on Earth to fart around. And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around. And it's like we're not supposed to dance at all anymore." Let's all get up and move around a bit right now... or at least dance.

New findings from the Compressed study: The use of compressed work hours more than doubled in Norwegian health services the past few years - from 21% to 44%.

So far I have 41 tools on my list to check out; here they are if you want to play along: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
Would love to have joined this exciting webinar, but the timing (midnight in Oslo) is in conflict with my toddler-affected sleep needs. Will there be a recording?
(Late) Congratulations and fingers crossed☺️🥂

Update: Something went wrong and I made a feed that only displays my own posts 🙈
Absolutely, thanks @jandejonge.bsky.social!
I made a feed to collect posts about work and family research🥳 It consists of work-family/family-work/work-life regular expressions/ search terms. What else should I add?
