Maine has only one endemic plant, Furbish's lousewort. It is extremely endangered, found only along the St. John River along the northern border with Canada. Almost 10 years ago, I set out to do something useful with the University students enrolled in my Plant Taxonomy class focused on this plant.

We need a state to national movement of ballot initiatives to ban law enforcement wearing masks. The only reasons I can see they have widely adopted this practice are to intimidate and terrorize civilians and enable them to do bad things without accountability.

I am shocked every day by videos of masked ICE agents assaulting civilians with excessive force. As a resident of Maine, I have watched Senator Collins repeatedly do this very same maneuver; vote "no" to appear like an alternative voice but only when it is safe for her to do, meaning the bill/nominee/etc. will pass despite her vote. It is very frustrating.
