If you do decide to watch it, here is my warning that brotherhood doesn't let you breath for a single second and I have to force myself to stop watching so i won't binge the whole thing. The pacing is brutal and i mean this as a compliment, it really works for the show but by GOD i need to sleep!!

Man i think both animes are wonderful and worth watching even if you've read it!! But since the 2003 one stopped follow the manga after its 20th episode or so, its a whole other story and i really love how they took the same premise and cast of main characters and did their own thing
