As a Cursal Canon at St Asaph Cathedral (given in recognition of her work as Warden of Gladstone’s Library, and the contribution she is making to diocesan life), we are delighted that Andrea will be representing Gladstone's Library at such a special occasion.
This is the first time the occasion has been held in North Wales, and only the second time ever in Wales, in the 800-year history of Maundy.
Warden Andrea Russell is stood in front of the wooden doors and large archway at the entrance of Gladstone's Library. She is wearing the clerical clothing of a Canon.
Our Warden, Andrea, is at St Asaph Cathedral today for the Royal Maundy Service attended by The King and Queen. The event takes place annually on the final Thursday before Easter Sunday and commemorates the Last Supper and the importance of humility and service to others.
