But the author is right in saying we have two options. I would say we have two VIABLE options. And those two options have worked for decades on being that way.

So if people want a 3rd and 4th and 5th option THAT ARE VIABLE, they need to put in the work.

And that's why each incoming presidential nominee, along with the DNC, revises the platform.

The basic ideology for the Dem platform, however, hasn't changed in decades. It's just become more focused and geared toward the present.

The political agenda for the Dem party is spelled out in the party's platform. So racial justice issues, working class issues, individual rights issues, climate issues, and so on.

That platform becomes the agenda presidential candidates and all candidates down the ticket pick up and support.

And you MUST separate the D and R parties, because that context matters for WHY there is a struggle for control from the local level to the state level up to the federal level.
