Are you tired of the same old subway colors? Wouldn’t it be great if you can tell if it’s a 4, 5, or 6 train arriving simply by its color? Subway Now is bringing back Vignelli’s colors from the 60’s to help you navigate the system better!

We’ve made major updates to the MTA app, including some new & improved features 📲
Thank you! And yes, I will continue with development on Subway Now in my spare time, as it's still very much a different and very opinionated app that I mostly designed for myself. :)

A common issue that pervades a lot of app design - people in SV don’t seem to conceive of worlds where you don’t have service bc you’re underground, you run out of data completely, etc. Really great to see @mta.info move this in-house!
So excited for everyone to see what I’ve been working on for the last 1.5 years!
With the agency’s new app, there’ll be no more wandering in search of the right exit at Atlantic-Barclays.
Worst of all is that Toronto ended up voluntarily spending money on stations that the province should’ve spent anyway all because of an election campaign.
Well that sucks lol.
Like what do you mean you’re cheering on a near miss. Not beating the nation of participation trophies allegations.
American hockey fans are so fucking annoying lol.

The Color Game. “Humans can’t reliably recall colors. This is a simple game to see how good (or bad) you are at it. We’ll show you five colors, then you’ll try and recreate them.” I scored 39/50 but got a perfect score on one color. [dialed.gg]
That the illegal destruction of USAID will kill more than *20 million people* in the next five years, & has ALREADY KILLED 600,000 in just one year, is a world-historical crime that Americans aren't being told about in the terms & with the repetition necessary for them to believe it.
A little disappointed that they didn't perform the spicy verse of either "Holiday" or "American Idiot."
For all the discussion of doxxing federal agents, there’s essentially no discussion of how those agents are taking steps that attach severe punitive measures that stretch across wide swaths of the federal bureaucracy against people acting lawfully.
mr. mamdani i sincerely apologize for the mileage this image is going to get
As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today. ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.
Asian-style platform screen doors and open-gangway!
Bathrooms! But unlike the ones in Japan, the bidets here are the hose type.
The strip map has transfers that don’t exist yet.
Quite optimistic for them to post the proposed system as the system map when only one line is in operation.
Quite optimistic of them to post the whole planned system when only one line is in operation.
Japan, actually. Some of the clues: fare gates’ flaps, map of system above ticket machines, station numbers, the digital displays showing time of arrivals instead of ETAs in minutes.
Nope!
No, they only use plastic fare cards, though the readers call them IC but unlike Suica/Pasmo/Icoca/etc, you can’t actually use it to pay for other things. They also do support contactless credit cards with a separate bolted on reader.
Probably just cuter graphics and less verbose language on signage.
