Congratulations to Eli Savit and Garlin Gilchrist for earning the MDP nomination for Attorney General and Secretary of State.

Whether it's protecting our voting rights or ensuring corporate polluters are held accountable, Savit and Gilchrist are capable and dependable allies for justice.

The projects supported through the MNRTF bring joy and inspiration to millions and are good for Michigan’s economy.

There are two projects in this year's allocations that affect my district.
1. Ypsilanti Township, North Bay Park Pavilion.

2. Parker Mill Park and B2B accessibility improvements.

Today, the Michigan Senate passed legislation requires hospitals to staff facilites without relying on over-working nurses. Routine use of forced overtime is dangerous for patients, reduces the quality of care, and drives away great nurses.

Here in Michigan, we won a victory for freedom and sanity when we legalized cannabis. However, that fight is not over as attacks on our law continue and as this War on Drugs rips apart families and communities while contributing to greater addiction and isolation.

DHHS is estimating an additional 589 employees will be needed to process the additional work-search paperwork at a cost of $80.3M/year for the State of Michigan.

Here in Michigan, ONLY for SNAP, Congress and Trump are increasing our administrative costs by $95 million a year. This is only to account for the additional administrative costs Congress shifted to Michigan taxpayers.

The Senate subcommittee on Appropriations for the Depart of Health and Human Services is hearing the bad news from the BBB.

Trump and Congressional Republicans passed a bill that not only increases our national debt, it also cuts programs for needy people & increases bureaucratic costs for states.

Unfortunately, the law allows and even requires EGLE to issue these permits.

I hate it and have pushed back generally and in specific situations.

Thank you to Rep Debbie Dingell for pushing hard to bring this additional attention to cleaning up the Gelman plume.

The federal government has more stringent cleanup standards for 1,4 dioxane and more tools to force accountability on the polluter.

Dingell delivers again, Thank you Congresswoman!

Tiny bits of plastic are getting into our bodies & our brains.

They invade habitats, pollute our waterways and are eventually ingested by animals, like us.

That's why yesterday, the Senate Natural Resources Committee passed a three bills to address microplastics.

Today in the Michigan Senate HHS committee we focused on bills to address the child care crisis in Michigan. We heard from parents, providers, and employers how these bills would help.

Higher electricity rates for Michigan residents to keep this unnecessary plant open.

I wish Trump treated his promises to coal executives like he treated his promises to voters to lower grocery prices, cut electricity rates in half, & to not start a war in Iran. www.detroitnews.com/story/busine...

This shift diverted revenue from host communities & k12 schools to roads while driving out-of-state & local buyers away from licensed operators.

Voters approved an excise tax on cannabis. That approach resulted in the most successful law in the nation in terms of participation in the legal market.

When we increased the cannabis tax last year, I warned that this would not only destabilize a new and struggling legal cannabis market; but, also, that these new taxes would push buyers away, diminishing participation in the legal market and tax revenue along with it.

this requirement is no longer needed and this bill removes the outdated rule.

This is one more reminder of what with taxes during the only time in the last 40 years when Democrats controlled the state capitol: less taxes for retirees and low-income workers.

The Senate passed my bill almost unanimously. This bill removes a requirement that pension administrators withhold state income taxes from retirement incomes and attest that they advised their clients properly.

The root of the fight with the Islamic Republic of Iran was the assassination of their elected leader, installing the Shah.

It is disgusting the Iranian people, and people in other countries all face additional danger because the people running the White House don't respect human rights.

Trump's bombing of Iran was another reckless and cruel move meant to distract Americans from his failures at home and abroad.

We have failed time and again with these colonial efforts at regime change.

This is one of many ideas Michigan should adopt to make housing more affordable. It also allows more density, up to 4 to 6 stories, on more parcels while opening up more design options.

We should allow more diverse housing to be built to meet the needs of Michigan residents by passing HB 5570-5571.

Governor Whitmer's last State of the State focused on continuing our efforts to improve literacy and lowering the cost of housing and health-care.

I was particularly excited to hear her highlight the literacy legislation we passed & how we must continue investing in kids to meet our literacy goals.

We also need to take the next steps. Literacy doesn't end with good 4th grade reading scores. We need to maintain the effort as kids get older and we need to continue pushing past decoding to help kids develop all of the skills necessary to be an expert reader.

I am excited to hear Governor Whitmer support training and early literacy curriculum that is informed by the science of reading. We passed a great law and now we need to follow through with funding.

Right now the Michigan House Oversight Committee is digging into the conditions at Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility. This facility is plagued by terrible conditions, especially mold. The state needs to step up and treat the women in prison with dignity.

MI Electricity rates keep going up.

We have one solution to save money on electricity: wasting less by allowing "virtual power plants" (www.energy.gov/edf/virtual-...).

Utilities are fighting against these bills that would save us money.

I tried to post video but: www.facebook.com/share/v/1Abm...
