And what "help" should the government give to downsizers? Is she suggesting the government guarantee their sale price?

The idea that the reason people aren't able to afford a house worth £750k+ is "VAT on school fees" is just classic rage bait too.

This tweet is highly defamatory and Martina Navratilova should be fired from BBC Sport for it.

It demonstrates an horrendous level of hatred for a trans woman (who was cleared of all wrongdoing in a recent tribunal) because she is a trans woman.

Was economic inactivity in London not below the rest of the UK before the recent increase? (And yes, the difference in rate among the young is definitely to do with the diverse and dynamic economy in London)

There is probably a contribution from London being younger than the rest of the UK - the median age is about 6 years lower. Not enough to account for all of the difference in ill health economic activity but part of it.

I have had some of them patronisingly attempt to explain DV to me and then react as if I am being rude when I point out that I may know a bit more about the process having been DV cleared (although my interview probably wasn't as interesting as Mandelson's).

What really pisses me off is when it is also accompanied by a woeful lack of understanding of how government works, which has been on show a lot in the last week.

And anyone who says anything negative about Starmer wants a Reform government and/or is corrupt in some way.

Because Mandelson wanted the job and Morgan wanted to help his mate out.

Yes, this is one of the most pervasive myths of the whole business, that it was to appease Trump. Total bollocks.

In my experience from a quarter century in public service, ministers (and senior officials. *cough* Romeo *cough*) who throw people under the bus constantly are aware of their inadequacy and do the chucking to cover it up to others, and to themselves.

Also they have social media in Canada and Carney's doing fine.

They have it in Spain and Sanchez has been PM since 2018.

And in France where Macron's been President since 2017.

Not up to it and desperately throwing people under the bus to conceal the fact.

The idea that being *a member of the House of Lords* in any way means you can be trusted with Top Secret/STRAP material without proper vetting is so beyond absurd that this must surely be a joke?

Which isn't good in a job where the main role is picking people.

Absolutely fantastic statement for the Telegraph to make in their article where not only did the provider of their MRP forget to remove Greens from constituencies and suggest Reform's strongest seat in Scotland would be Strathkelvin and Bearsden, *they didn't even do D'Hondt correctly*

I remember one time, over 20 years ago now, when on a Sunday morning, mildly hungover, I wandered through Trafalgar Sq and encountered about a hundred Morris dancers for some kind of gathering. Had a moment when I suspected someone had spiked my drink!

If you kill your wife, you don't get to be a husband anymore Some lessons from the media coverage of Dr. Cerina Fairfax and Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer's murders.

My latest.

I’ve been watching the media coverage of the murders of Dr. Cerina Fairfax and Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer.

One way media can fight back against male violence:

If you kill your wife, you don’t get to be called a “husband” any more.

You’re her killer.

My first reaction was disgust but yeah, anger followed quickly on its heels.

This is the point. It is easy to look like the greatest team in the world ever if you are up against teams at a much earlier stage of development.

Most perm secs are, either before or shortly after they get the job. FCO types are usually of the order of St Michael and St George. He is unusual in that his 'junior' honour is from a different order (CB) because he was not a diplomat. It was May gave him his K in her resignation honours.
